Seahawks sign Kevin Williams, Demitrius Bronson

James Snook-US PRESSWIRE

The Seahawks have (officially) signed DT Kevin Williams and RB Demitrius Bronson, releasing QB Keith Price and DL Kenneth Boatright to clear room on the roster. The Williams move is no surprise, merely a formality, and Bronson's signing had been rumored for several weeks after he tried out at the Rookie Minicamp -- meaning it may or may not have anything to do with Marshawn Lynch's contract hold-out situation (i.e., it's a coincidence, or the team has known for some time that Lynch wouldn't show up this week)>

Bronson is 5'10 212 pounds; he ran the 40 in 4.52 seconds, registered a 4.25 second short shuttle, 6.82 second 3-cone, 24 reps bench, and a 33.5" vert. He's a former 3-star recruit to University of Washington but saw only limited action in 2009 and didn't play in 2010, so he transferred to Eastern Washington. He fits the profile, athletically, as a Seahawk type of running back, and as our own Jared Stanger points out, "his highlight reel is basically a '3rd down back' audition tape. Catches out of the backfield, chip blocks on blitzers, short yardage..."

Both Boatright and Price will more than likely remain on Seattle's ghost roster, also known as "speed dial," and if they're not signed elsewhere immediately, I could see them showing up in camp or preseason again before it's all said and done.
