NFL Draft 2014: Seahawks BPA & updated horizontal/vertical matrices

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Updating our Seahawk Draft Boards.

The first round of the NFL Draft is in the books, and Seattle elected to trade back eight spots rather than taking a player at #32. The Field Gulls Seahawks Draft Matrix that CBSSports/'s Derek Stephens and our own Davis Hsu created for us is now up to date, and Stephens' raw grades bore out well.

Below is a visual of the vertical version of his grades, showing that most of his round one players fell off the board.

That brings us to the best players available per his grading scale.

DT Timmy Jernigan (7.35), DL Stephon Tuitt (7.10), WR Marqise Lee (7.00), OL Xavier Su'a-Filo (7.00), and NT Louis Nix (7.00) are the remaining players with 7.00+ grades, or as Derek defines, "High Performer, 1st Rounders". These would probably be considered by most as the remaining "big time" type players, along with perhaps DT Rashede Hageman, Morgan Moses, and Kony Ealy.

The list, past that, of potential targets in the 2nd and 3rd rounds is lengthy.

Offensive linemen in OT Cyrus Kouandjio, T/G Joel Bitonio, OG Gabe Jackson, T/G Cameron Fleming, OC Weston Richburg, T/G Jack Mewhort, T/G Dakota Dozier and T/G Billy Turner are still out there. Receivers like Jordan Matthews, Cody Latimer, Bruce Ellington and Allen Robinson could be targets. Corners like Phillip Gaines, Lamarcus Joyner, Bashaud Breeland and Marcus Roberson are alive. RB Carlos Hyde and TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins are still on the board. Jace Amaro hasn't yet been selected, nor has Jeremy Hill.

Which players at at the top of your list for #40 and #64? See a Seahawks trade-back again? Hit me up in the comments.
