"Kam Chancellor right now is as good as any safety that’s played in the game of football," Lott said. "It’s hard for me to say this, but there was only one guy that I know that’s better and that’s Kenny Easley. He was defensive player of the year and best player to play the safety position, ever. He is getting to close to being in that community of greatness. And that is hard for me to say that because I have the utmost respect for Kenny Easley. That group, those two (Chancellor and Thomas), they’re playing at that level.

2014 NFL Draft job interview process begins for some at Senior Bowl | The MMQB with Peter King

The Seahawks have the best third-down pass defense (by DVOA) since 1989. The Broncos, after having the fourth-best last season, have one of the very worst. That would seem to favor Seattle on both sides of the ball, but the Seahawks have been a poor third-down offense in recent weeks and Denver has that outstanding offense (16-of-26 on third down in the playoffs). I dug into our game-charting stats for this matchup, which is still painfully more than a week away.

Updated 2014 NFL Salary Increases - Over the Cap
This is the time of year when final season statistics are officially finalized by the NFL and players earn raises that are included in their contract. These raises are referred to as escalators and , if earned, increase the value of a players’ contract. One set of escalators is for veteran players while another set is known as the "Proven Performance Escalator". The PPE is available to all offensive and defensive players selected between round 3 and 7 of the draft during the 4th year of their contract. If earned this raises the salary of the player to that of the lowest Restricted Free Agent Tender. To earn that escalator a player must play in at least 35% of the snaps in two of his first three seasons or 35% of the total snaps over the three year period. The PPE is never guaranteed and most escalators are not guaranteed.
