Seattle makes Whitehurst offer

Per Sam Wyche of nfl.com

"The Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks have extended contract offers to Chargers restricted free-agent QB Charlie Whitehurst, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Whitehurst, San Diego’s No. 3 quarterback behind Philip Rivers and Billy Volek, will make a decision on which offer sheet to sign within the next 48 hours, according to the source.

Once Whitehurst signs a contract, San Diego has seven days to match the offer. If the Chargers decline, the team that he signs with would owe San Diego a third-round pick (the restricted tender the Chargers placed on Whitehurst) unless other terms could be negotiated. Seattle currently doesn’t have a third-round selection in the 2010 draft because it traded it to Philadelphia last year in order to move up in the draft and select WR Deon Butler. However, Seattle has discussed other forms of compensation that have met guidelines approved by San Diego.

The fact that the Cardinals and the Seahawks have extended offers to the fourth-year veteran who has yet to throw an NFL pass means, at the very least, that they plan to add depth behind Matt Leinart and Matt Hasselbeck, respectively. It is more likely that Whitehurst could get an opportunity to compete with both quarterbacks, who aren’t locks to start for their teams in 2010."

I wonder how much they are offering and if this goes thru do they see him as a QB of the future, removing the need to draft a QB at 1.6. I also wonder what they offered instead of a third round pick? I had been talking with friends this week saying that if they believed in this guy maybe they would swap picks with SD at 14 in exchange for Whitehurst.

What do you think?

OT: Favorite Comedians; WASHINGTON HUSKIES GO DANCING!!!

I'm a fan of comedy, particularly stand-up comics and anyone who can effectively improvise and destroy hecklers. I also laugh at anyone who thinks Dane Cook is funny. Just because he has conniptions on stage doesn't mean he can make his awful jokes any funnier. Without further ado my favorite stand-up comics are:

George Carlin

Russell Peters

Frankie Boyle

Richard Jeni

Rodney Dangerfield

Tim Allen

Who are your favorite stand-up comedians of all time?

Also, HUSKIES!!!!! Thanks for showing the balls and determination to win the Pac-10 title!!! On to the NCAA Tournament you go. I didn't think this team would even win a road game in the Pac-10 regular season but they had a strong finish to the season and beat Cal 79-75 today to win that automatic bid. Go Washington!

Now that the Browns have signed Delhomme, they are shopping Quinn. I have no idea whether is lack of success in Cleveland was due to the lack of talent around him or with his true abilities but given the lack of QBs available I wonder if he should be considered? If you were Seattle, would you take a chance on him and try and make a trade? For what value?

Thoughts?

Demaryious Thomas GT

Two questions for you John, do you have access to GT game tape? If so, would you be willing to break down Demaryious Thomas for us? He seems to be a very intriguing prospect (in the mold of CJ a little shorter and perhaps a bit slower) regardless of the foot injury just based on his highlight reels on you tube, (he seems to play the ball exceptionally well at its highest point) understandably that doesn't paint the whole picture. Looking forward to seeing something if possible and as always appreciate it.

Man I miss that O line. It makes me really miss Walter Jones and Steve Hutch on the left. Was fun to watch all the drama and rivalry again. If I remember right we were 2-2 going into this game and was the game that started our incredible streak to the Super Bowl..

"Nuclear Cabbage"?

The uni post that lemonverbana put up made me curious...now that a little time has passed, what do people think of the bright green alternate jerseys?

For what it's worth, I love the bright green and hope they bring it back for a game or two a year. I bought a lime Lofa and love it. The green is my personality: loud, a bit obnoxious, perhaps even offensive.

Hey, look! A poll!

The Prospects of Brandon Marshall

For the about the last week, Field Gulls and other, lesser sports sites have been set ablaze with the prospects of Seattle acquiring Brandon Marshall from the Denver Broncos. As a Seahawks fan, I can say that I was on the computer most of Friday and Saturday trying to get an idea of what people were saying about this. Am I excited as hell about the idea of having a threat like Marshall on our team? Yes, yes I am. But as I was reading the various threads, articles, and sometimes tweets pertaining to this story, four questions continually pestered me. Do we want Brandon Marshall? What about his reputation? Who is our competition? What is the cost? Though I am not an "insider" and don't have any connections to anyone in the league, I want to sort this out as logically as I can with the information I do have from the internet.

Do we want Brandon Marshall?

As far as football playing goes, who wouldn't? He has been one of the most dominant receivers in the game over the last three years, catching 307 passes over that span, as well as amassing 3710 yards and 23 touchdowns. He not only has great hands, but is very graceful for a receiver his size (6-4 230lbs.). He would be a deep threat that the Seahawks haven't had in a while. A Seahawk fan can only dream of having him on the same offense as T.J. Houshmanzadeh and John Carlson. We would just need a capable QB, LT, and game plan, and we should be pretty respectable.

What about his reputation?

Brandon Marshall has become pretty infamous around the league for his off field antics. He has even earned the nickname baby T.O. Though Owens was a problem in the locker room, Marshall has been a problem off the field. Marshall has had many run ins with the law, mainly because of domestic violence. I think a more fair comparison would be Randy Moss. Here is a record of Marshall's legal troubles.

My main concern with Marshall is the company he keeps off the field. I think the change of scenery could be very good for him. Whether it factors or not, Seattle's roster if full of good guys from the Ruskell years, who would surely be a good influence on him. Also, from what I know about Pete Carroll, he usually deals well with people who have a Tupac-ian view of life. In fact, he usually has an easier time dealing with these kind of people if you note all the communities he reached out to in Los Angeles. Of course, this is all speculative, but it is something to think about.

Who is our competition?

At the moment, I believe pretty adamantly that we can break down our competition for Marshall into three categories: Possible, Doubtful, and Highly Unlikely. The chances for teams in the highly unlikely category to trade or sign Marshall are literally next to none. In my opinion, they can be considered eliminated from contention. Doubtful teams are probably not going to make a run for him. Possible teams are our closest competition. After looking at the league, here is how I see it breaking down.

Highly Unlikely: Eagles, Giants, Vikings, Lions, Packers, Saints, Cardinals, Falcons, Panthers, Rams, Patriots, Bills, Bengals, Steelers, Ravens, Browns, Colts, Texans, Titans, Chargers, Raiders, Chiefs (22 teams)

Doubtful: Cowboys, Redskins, Bucs, 49ers, Dolphins, Jaguars (6 teams). I figure you can't really ever completely count the Cowboys or Redskins out, but I really think neither will pull the trigger. The Bucs, Dolphins, and Jaguars need a Wide Receiver and have some picks, but that is the extent of it. The 49ers also probably will not do anything, but they could hurt the Seahawks by trying to drive up the price, they also have 2 first round picks.

Possible: Jets and Bears (2 teams). The Bears are already at a disadvantage because they don't have until the 75th in the third round. But they have a serious need at receiver and have been spending money, so, who knows? The Jets, I think are the closest thing that we have to competition for Marshall at all. It would be harder for them to trade for Marshall because they play in the same conference. Plus, they could look to the draft for someone like Golden Tate. I don't think the Jets really would want to trade a first rounder for Marshall either.

So, there you have it. Are only true competition for Marshall is the Jets, and they are in a distant second. In fact, Marshall hasn't even visited them yet, who knows if he want to play for them, or if they really are serious about him. I think this is obviously enormous leverage for the Seahawks because the market for Marshall is extremely thin.

What is the cost?

I think it is pretty evident that Seattle will not give up their 6th overall pick for Marshall, otherwise they would have signed him straight up to an offer sheet last Saturday. There are two things we can look at from the market's perspective to determine price, among other things.

The first is the market for Marshall, which we have already established. Basic economic principals say that if something is not in high demand, its value decreases. Brandon Marshall is not in high demand, meaning his value has hypothetically decreased.

Second, we can look at the Boldin trade as an indicator to how much Marshall is worth. They are somewhat similar receivers with similar numbers. Marshall might have more upside than Boldin and be less of an injury, but his history off the field offsets that for the most part. Boldin was traded to Baltimore last week along with a 5th (159th overall) for the Ravens 3rd (88th) and 4th (124th) round picks in the draft. The value for the 5th round pick according to the NFL Draft Pick Value Chart is 28.8. The value for the picks the Ravens sent are 150 for the third and 48 for the 4th. Together, the picks the Ravens traded for Boldin are worth a combined 198 points. To equate Boldin's worth to a single draft pick, we will subtract 28.8 from 198. This ends up equaling 169.2, or about the 84th pick in the draft, which is mid 3rd round. Here is the chart.

Using this logic, I think a fair price for Marshall might be a 4th this year, along with Deion Branch, and a conditional pick next year for Marshall and a 5th. Something along those lines. The point is that it would be absolutely preposterous to trade any 1st round pick for Marshall. I think it is still a little bit of a reach for a 2nd, but would be pretty happy with it overall, because as good as he might be, the market has dictated his value, and it is not worth a first. It is now up to Seattle to play it smart like they have been and wait for the right time to pick up Marshall and not over pay for him.

Or they just made not trade him, and if that is the case, nevermind then.

Should we bring in Marlin Jackson?

We probably aren't drafting a corner this year, we all agree we need to fix the D-line first, that our safeties are good enough, and our corners are okay. We have enough on the roster but the problem is that other than Trufant none of them are what would be classified as particularly good. I like Josh Wilson but his can be a problem and he is more of a nickel corner. So far he has visited the Eagles and Ravens without a contract and is on his way to the Jets who hopefully won't sign him.

Jackson not being signed by Baltimore

He had an ACL injury so there is a risk but I think we could get him and he makes our secondary a lot better if he is healthy.

I know there were some character risks, but charges were never filed, and he won the civil suit against and was awarded damages according to Wikipedia.

Projecting the comp picks

Thought I'd throw this up, paying particular attention to the Seahawks. This guy has been doing this for years and is pretty good at projecting the formula the NFL uses for comp picks. I'll paraphrase a bit for those of you who hate reading. He only projects a seventh rounder:

SEVENTH ROUND

Seattle (Floyd Womack, $950,000, 13/9)

As you know, our last offseason went something like this:

SEATTLE

Lost: Rocky Bernard, Maurice Morris, Leonard Weaver, Floyd Womack

Signed: T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Colin Cole, John Owens

Notice that some of these cancel each other out, although it might not play out exactly like this. The league could decide values a little differently. Later in the article:

If Bobby Engram qualifies, Seattle will receive a seventh-round comp pick for him immediately before its comp pick for Floyd Womack.

If John Owens does not qualify, Seattle will receive a seventh-round comp pick for Leonard Weaver, between Tennessee's comp picks for Eric King and Daniel Loper.

If Floyd Womack does not qualify, Seattle will not receive a comp pick for him.

Anyway, read through the whole article. AdamJT13 knows what he's talking about and I guarantee you'll learn something about the vague compensatory pick process.

The whole thing got me thinking about last year's free agent period. Looking at the acquisitions and with hindsight now available, do you think it was a good offseason? Bad offseason? Where could we have better spent our money?

If you were making 6, 14, 40 today what would you do?

Assuming all the scenarios being discussed on most blogs are accurate (Bradford to the Rams, Suh to the Lions, McCoy to the Bucs, Okung/Williams going to Redskins and Chiefs). The rules for this are no trades because who predict what will happen there.

6: Spiller

14: Charles Brown

40: Bruce Campbell

I would make the choices assuming we are picking mid-round next year, and that the Rams, Bucs, Lions, and Chiefs will still be in the top 5. Our defense ranges from okay to pretty good, next year is the year we can make a bad ass defense. This year I think the biggest favor we can do for our defense is give them an offense that can put up points.

I am just not sold on any of these QB's at least until we know that we can protect whoever starts for us. Matt used to be a good QB but our line has made him awful, I'd rather protect him, and try to enter the Locker sweepstakes next year. If we take a QB to sit I am the most comfortable with Canfield in round 5. When Matt gets banged up in week 5 next year, I think Canfield can come in midseason next year and perform better than Seneca Wallace with a good running game and decent protection.

Spiller's speed makes him special and from what I can tell he seems to be a good receiver too. I think Matt could really use an emergency valve check down target on the field with him at all times. Charles Brown has a lot of experience and this a place where Carroll's knowledge of a player's strengths will pay off. Bruce Campbell has the size, speed, and strength but lacks the experience, I think know would be the time for him to go to RT.

Our Husky fans would be happy to know that this scenario also allows us to take Te'o in round 4.

Decisions, Decisions

News just broke that the long time Left Tackle for the Washington Redskins just retired. This is the link, here. With the retirement of Chris Samuels and Jason Campbell being tendered, I think Seattle has a great chance of having Sam Bradford and Jimmy Clausen available at 6. The only two realistic hurdles would be the Rams selecting a QB first overall, or someone trading up ahead of us. But, if they were to both fall to us a 6, who should we select between the two? Do we select a QB at all? (God, I hope this doesn't count as Rosterbation.)

Possibility of drafting a QB, Picks 1-5:

Rams: Very Possible. Probably the biggest threat to draft a QB before us. It's just a matter of who they value more for the money, Suh, McCoy, Bradford, or Clausen.

Lions: Extremely Unlikely. For obvious reasons.

Bucs: Extremely Unlikely.

Redskins: Unlikely. They could still, hypothetically go for a QB, but it just wouldn't make sense, especially with all the activity buzzing around them. I think they will go after Okung, if he is around.

Chiefs: Highly Unlikely. They have way too much money tied up in Cassel, as well as needs in other places.

Thoughts on Kerney, Branch and Jones

EDIT: Kerney is not getting a roster bonus, and is due a little over $5 million this year. There's not much reason to cut him before March 5th.

There's only a few days left before the official start of the 2010 season, and the Hawks org has been mostly mum on the three somewhat "controversial" players: Patrick Kerney (age, injury, declining performance), Deion Branch (age, injury) and Walter Jones (age, injury).

What do you guys think the outcome will be? Here are my thoughts:

Patrick Kerney - He's due to make a little over $5 million with NO roster bonus. It's unlikely anything happens with him any time soon. My guess is the team will try to restructure or trade. If neither, they'll cut him. He's expensive and his multiple labrum surgeries make it quite unlikely he'll be dominant.

Walter Jones - They'll pay him his roster bonus ($400k) and then let him retire. It's the right thing to do. Big Walt's the best Seahawks that's ever worn green and blue.

Deion Branch - I was conflicted, but I think he'll stay a Hawk (without a restructure). He seemed to gain a bit of steam the end of last season, and with the likely departure of Nate Burleson, we'll need a #2. When healthy (many of you may be thinking 'if healthy'), Branch tends to play better than Burleson (my observation).

Thoughts? Likely outcomes? I'm not football expert, so if I'm dead wrong, please tell me why!

Draft Day What If

I am sorry for posting another draft, what if, but I am extremely curious what everyone thinks of this. What if Seattle traded their 14th pick to the Chargers for the Chargers first, second, and third round picks? My reasoning for this might not be enough to make any one a believer, but what the hell, it's the draft, which is full of possibilities. Here are my reasons, take from the what you want:

Why San Diego Would Want our Pick:

In the last week and a half or so, San Diego has released both of their backs, L.T. and Sproles. While there is a chance Sproles could be back, L.T. will not and Sproles is not an every down back. San Diego will be in the market for a running back, that is for sure, and since most running backs in free agent are either over the hill, or at the tail end of their peaks, the best place to find a running back is in the Draft.

In the 2010 NFL Draft, most "experts" believe C.J. Spiller is the best back in the draft. In fact, he might be the only one to go in the first round. He was explosive, deceptive, and fast in college. Obviously the NFL is a different beast, but he still is coveted. Most mock drafts have him going either to Seattle or right around Seattle's 14th pick. What if San Diego wants Spiller? I am sure they do, but how much?

Why Seattle Would Want to trade the Pick:

Simply for more picks. Let's be honest, if we can get three potential picks for one, all in the top half of the draft, it is something you should consider. Who would we really take at 14? Bryan Bulaga? C.J. Spiller? Couldn't we get players like them later in the draft, who might even fit our system better. I believe their is a great chance that we could get Charles Brown with the 28th pick in the draft. We could nab someone like Best or Matthews in the second round or Joe McKnight with our third. Who knows? But, say the opportunity were to arise, wouldn't it better to maximize our picks and grab someone like Spiller or Bulaga later in the draft?

How did I come up with the terms of the trade:

I used the Draft Pick Value Chart, which tells the hypothetical value of all of the picks in the draft. For example, the 14th pick has a value of 1,100 points, while the 6th pick has a value of 1,600. The first pick has a value of 3,000. If we called the Rams and told them we would trade them the 14th and 6th overall picks in the draft for the first one, we would, hypothetically, be getting a better deal than the Rams. I believe it is all subjective, though. If there is a top-heavy draft, the picks higher in the draft are worth a lot, while the lower picks are worth a significantly less. This draft though is supposedly full of talent, even in the later rounds. Anyways, the value of the 28th pick is listed at 660, while the Chargers 2nd and 3rd round picks are listed at 300 and 132 points, respectively. That adds up to 1,092, which is 8 points of the value of the 14th overall pick. But, since this draft is supposedly deep, it could be a great deal for Seattle, if the opportunity were to ever present itself.

So, even if this never happens, even if it does happen, but with a different team, it is always interesting to look at potential prospects relating to the draft. What does everyone think? As a fan, would you like to see the Seahawks make the trade or keep the 14th if the situation presents itself? It's an interesting thought for a team with lots of holes at keep positions

Our own Blitz is facing MS - You can Help!

I realize this post is a bit out of the norm, but I hope you'll agree that it is a worthy departure.

For several years (3? 4?, memory continues to slip as I near 30) my friend Ryan Asdourian has entertained crowds as Blitz, the Seahawks mascot. He had been a mascot in college (stupid Gators) and has thoroughly enjoyed the chance to pump up football fans here in Seattle. Today I learned that Ryan was diagnosed with MS in Dec '08.

Quite a shock to me, as I know it was to him. I'll spare you all a long winded soliloquy - a message passed on from Ryan is after the jump if you're interested. Short version - Ryan is seeing this as an opportunity to raise awareness and money to help the fight against MS. He has set up Team Blitz for the Seattle MS Walk in April, and hopes to raise $100,000 in all.

I've been an avid reader of this blog for about a year (and a timid commenter over the last few months). I realize this blog may be an odd place for an passionate appeal, but I thought it might be special to see if we can drop up some Field Gulls support. Below is the link to the overall Team Page if anyone wants to donate or join in on the walk (April 11th). I've also included a link to the Team member page I just setup.

www.BlitzTacklesMS.com

http://main.nationalmssociety.org/goto/GrantG

If FG vets can Rec this or do anything to help get this post on the main page, I'd be incredibly grateful. Thanks everyone!

"1 year and 2 months ago, I learned I was living with a disease that has no cure. That feeling you have when your foot is asleep, I had running from my ribcage to my toes. It lasted for days.

I saw multiple doctors and had a number of MRIs. All resulted in the same phone call telling me the results were inconclusive and I’d need to come in again. That changed on Dec 7th, 2008.

“Hi Ryan, the results of your brain scan came in and we’d like to discuss the results with you in person.” I think I blacked out for the rest of the conversation but the nurse said something along the lines of it being important for me to come in today and that they had cleared time on the doctor’s schedule if I could make it work. Of course I could make it work.

Multiple Sclerosis, a degenerative neurological disease, directly affects more people in Washington than anywhere else in the US. That afternoon I learned I was part of that statistic.

My mom thought I was dying. For those of you that know my mom, you know she is one of the most loving human beings on the planet. It hurt me more trying to comprehend her pain than to find out I had MS. It was hard on my whole family, but with the encouraging words of my dad, the compassion of my mom, and my brother moving out to Seattle to be with me, they have made it easier.

I know exactly what Lou Gehrig meant when he said he felt like one of the luckiest people in the world. I have an incredible life. In the past few years, I have been to Africa, Europe and South America, shared a stage with Steve Ballmer, been skydiving with Red Bull, and jumped off the roof of Qwest Field to the sound of 67,000 screaming fans.

As most of you know, I spend my days working at Microsoft and most of my other time running around as the mascot for the Seattle Seahawks. Every year I go to numerous walks, runs and charity events for different causes and diseases dressed as Blitz. I had been to Walk MS before, but it only registered as “another walk” to me. But last year it was different, and this year, I am starting my own team. Team Blitz.

The Seahawks have been an unbelievably supportive organization and I will be doing the entire walk dressed as Blitz, the mascot. With the support of the Seahawks and using the mascot as a vehicle for fundraising, I’ve been given the unique opportunity to raise money for a cause that’s important to me and millions of others. I’ve set two goals for Team Blitz this year. The first is to raise $100,000. The second is to win the Rookie Team of the Year award. Lofty? Maybe. Achievable? Most definitely!

If you are getting this email, it means we are somehow connected and I would love to have you involved. I understand you may not have the time or be able to help financially however just by reading this message, you have already helped. If you want to actively get involved, I’ve outlined a few things you can do, any of which, that would mean the world to me.

1. Donate money. Help raise money to find a cure and donate on my team site. Click here. www.BlitzTacklesMS.com (Don’t forget to check and see if your company matches donations – I can answer questions about matching, especially for Microsoft)

2. Walk on Team Blitz. Even if you can't raise money, if you are local to Seattle, on April 11th, walk with me. Mark it on your calendar!

3. Forward this email to someone, or everyone. Sometimes an email is all people need to find a cause they want to support. I know I left people out, so please pass it on.

4. Post a message on Facebook to help raise money and awareness. You can use www.BlitzTacklesMS.com

5. Watch a 6 minute mini-documentary my brother created on the walk – Click here

6. Ask questions. It’s totally okay.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) affects people differently over time. I’m in the early stages and have 3 lesions on my brain, not a day goes by that I don’t notice how it affects my body. It’s slight now and overall, I’m doing well, but many people are not. They struggle with fatigue, they struggle to walk, they struggle with depression, they struggle with life. Help me. Help me inspire hope and remind millions of people that no disease can ever hold us down. Join me.

Approximately 100 times a year, groups and organizations ask me to dress up as Blitz. On April 11th, I ask you to walk for me, so that I can continue to run for you.

Help today!

Ryan

www.BlitzTacklesMS.com – Team Page

OT: Trolls and March Madness

I was in a local park about two weeks ago playing catch with my wife. Alanya is petite but a natural athlete and she's got a great spiral. We use an NFL sized ball, so it's a wonder that she can throw so well, but that's my girl. Anyway, it had been a few months and I think we were both just trying to avoid injury. She stabs at the ball when she catches and invariably jams a finger. So much for my coaching-up.

We had been there about 20 minutes when this six or seven year old kid riding a bike came round the paved path that surrounds the park.

"Needle dick. Needle dick. Fuck my ass. Needle dick. Fuck my ass."

It was obvious the kid was desperate for attention. I looked over at his family, or what I assume was his family, and there were five kids, all rapid fire births, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and a young couple-maybe younger than Alanya and I.

We played on. The kid circled round and near us again.

"Fuck my ass. Needle dick. Bukkake. Bukkake. Needle dick."

I turned to Alanya and said, "that kid is going to be trolling Field Gulls in a few years."

I have not watched a single college basketball game since last year's tournament. Can anyone fill me in on the angles and rooting interests? UW is first for me, and then I usually pull Pac-10

How Gerald McCoy Might Fall to Us at Number 6

It seems like a long shot, but there is an extraordinarily small chance that we could land Gerald McCoy. Here is my reasoning, and if it were to happen, it would most likely happen one of two ways. We also know, logically, these things would have to happen: The Rams would have to select a Quarterback; The Lions would have to select a OT, because the Bucs are definitely taking a Defensive Tackle if one is available. I don't think the Redskins will draft a DT because they have lots of money invested in Haynesworth and Cornelius Griffin. I think the Redskins would most likely take either a QB or a OT. The Chiefs definitely will not take a DT, because they have drafted Glenn Dorsey and Tyson Jackson the last two years. So:

Scenario A: Rams select: Jimmy Clausen; Lions select: Russell Okung; Bucs select: Ndamukong Suh; Redskins select: Anthony Davis; Chiefs select: Eric Berry

Scenario B:Rams select: Jimmy Clausen; Lions select: Russell Okung; Bucs select: Ndamukong Suh; Redskins select: Sam Bradford; Chiefs select: Eric Berry

So, in the event that, hypothetically, Gerald McCoy falls to us at 6, do we select him, or do we take someone else. Maybe Sam Bradford or Anthony Davis? What does everyone think?

A quick ethical question

Jermon Bushrod, who was fantastic for the Saints last year when Jamaal Brown got hurt early, received a 2nd round tender today. I'm sure everyone agrees that OT is a huge need for the Hawks, but pick 40 is a little high for a guy coming off only one proven season. So my question is, is there any precedent for us trading pick 40 with someone picking in the lower half of the 2nd round, and acquiring a 3rd or 4th round pick in addition to their 2nd for the trade. Then using the late 2nd rounder as compensation for picking up Bushrod? It's immediately transparent, but would it be allowed? There's not going to be much by way of OT's in free agency, if we could pick up a 3rd rounder and use a 2nd on Bushrod I'd certainly be happy.

Will offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates trade for Brandon Marshall?

New Seahawks offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates has went on record with his intentions. He plans to create an offense similar to the one he learned under former Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan.

Could this mean a trade for a current Bronco's WR?

Brandon Marshall comes with both talent and concerns, but with Houshmandzadeh one year older, and Nate Burleson being an UFA, perhaps Pete Carroll can be convinced to trade one of our two first round picks for the troubled but talented wideout.

 	<fieldset class="poll-box">
  <legend>Poll</legend>

Do you think we should trade for Brandon Marshall?

yes, and I would trade our #6 pick

8 votes

yes, but I would only trade our #14 (formerly denvers)

no, I would not trade for Brandon Marshall

123 votes
