Open Thread: NFL Combine: Qbs and Rbs

A little bit more exciting to watch backs sprint than linemen. Little bit.

Update: Well, the Big 3 all showed up. Not likely any will fall to Seattle. I really think Jonathan Stewart ends up in Arizona. Not happy to type that, obviously. After the Big 3, the talent looks pretty tightly bunched. Unless something miraculous happens and someone real-good drops to Seattle in the 1st, I sincerely hope Seattle waits as long as possible to grab their back of the future.

Game Day Open Thread - AFC: San Diego at New England

Just in case you're watching football this afternoon, here's an open thread for the AFC Championship game. Can the Chargers pull off the biggest upset in conference championship history against the 17-0 Patriots?

No. No they can't. But here's the game thread.

I won't belabor the point. You know what this is all about. I would like to mention, however, that for this game, we got Chad on our side.

I feel a wind a-comin', 12 percenters...

Game Day Open Thread - Wild Card Playoff: Washington at Seattle

at

The Seahawks start their fifth consecutive postseason against America's sentimental favorite team. There will be weather.

Commentary here and at our Redskins blog, Hogs Haven (who were one of Field Gulls' earliest supporters and enthusiasts in the SB Nation, so try not to get too personal with 'em).

You know the drill, 12th Man.

Frank Hughes is reporting that Deion Branch is Out.

Game Day Open Thread - Week 17: Seattle at Atlanta

at
December 30, 10:00am Pacific
Georgia Dome
FOX

Last game of the regular season. Nothing at stake. Hopefully a lot of resting players. It's not even fun to root against the Falcons this year. Maybe I'll just go to spinning class and get myself a soy latte instead.

Ha, ha.

Commentary -- if there's any point -- on this thread, and also at The Falcoholic.

Game Day Open Thread: Patriots-Giants

The Harlem Globetrotters take on the Washington Gen-- I mean, the New England Patriots take on the New York Giants tonight.

In light of the historical importance of this game -- I believe Winston Churchill will be signing something on field at halftime -- I thought we'd have a little game thread here in case people wanna document this.

Of course you may also go to Pats Pulpit or Big Blue View as well.

Game Day Open Thread - Week 16: Baltimore at Seattle

at
December 23, 1:00pm Pacific
Qwest Field
FOX

The only NFL team ever named after a poem is storming into Qwest Field after a rousing win against the winless Miami Dolphins last week! It's gonna be a...

Whaddaya mean, "Go back and read Monday's sports page again"? Well, all right, let's see... hmm, NFL page... scores... oh... oh, my.

Um... uh... ahem.

Listen, these guys are probably a little pissed off, so... look, just be... hey, it's Christmas. Be all Christmas-y and stuff. Good cheer. Cocoa. Maybe with some marshmallows. Or brandy.

Commentary here and at our Ravens blog, Baltimore Beatdown.

Game Day Open Thread - Week 15: Seattle at Carolina

at
December 16, 10:00am Pacific
Bank Of America Stadium
FOX

It's a rematch of the 2005-06 NFC Championship game, drama quotient much lessened. Not sure who's starting at QB for the Panthers -- either relative newbie Matt Moore, or Wilford Brimley.

Commentary here and at our Panthers blog, Cat Scratch Reader, which incidentally is my favorite blog title in this whole SBN ecosystem. Let's see who's really Double Live Gonzo, and who will suffer a Death By Misadventure. Wango Tango. Wango Tango, indeed.

(Apologies to all those born after 1975. I don't feel we got to ch-ch-ch-change.)

(Give a rock writer an inch...)
