Some Quick Thoughts, Larry King Style:
Weaver makes the roster, barely...the Viva Viagra commercial is furtively targeting homosexual men...The starting split-end spot is still open, Hackett or Burleson emerge tonight against a Raider team that's great against #1 receivers, but poor against #2 receivers...Moon and Lundquist will be bored and complaining by the second quarter...Ray Willis emerges as the team's top utility lineman with a decent showing at right tackle...Josh Wilson scores some sort of return touchdown...I love documentaries and "King of Kong" looks very cool...The simple fact that Maruc Tubbs is playing in tonight's preseason game is awesome above and beyond whatever he can contribute...Baraka Atkins gets a sack, maybe two...Will Herring makes the team by dearth of competition...David Greene could easily play his way right off the team...we discovered recently that our kitten is a Maine Coon...Morris exceeds 60 yards rushing...if anything worth breaking down occurs, I'll do it, otherwise I'll just list the preseason's cumulative stats along with, eh, cumulative reflections...the Hawks win an ugly contest, 34-27.

Continued:
Don't expect the Raiders squad that got sacked like Rome last year. Aaron Brooks and Andrew Walter were both culpable in Oakland's league worst 72 sacks allowed. Culpepper is slower than a dugong, but Josh McCown is battle tested from his days w/ the Cards...god bless the flying Huard brothers...Watch Lock, he's auditioning for a huge contract this offseason...Sir Francis Drake was always my favorite explorer...Lost in the shuffle: Bentley has looked good, Darby, too.

Well that's a crushing loss for the Mariners.
I sort of expected Tubbs to have a set-back at some point, as long as he can return in the second half of the season I'm not too concerned.

by Phildopip on Aug 30, 2007 8:01 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

If Burleson wins the #2
The added benefit is the Hawks will retain the best slot receiver in football Hackett, and with Engram have a fearsome duo of slot receivers.

by John Morgan on Aug 30, 2007 8:02 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Agreed
I think Nate is the better option at split end anyway

Oh and I just picked him up my fantasy team :)

What knee did Tubbs have surgery on?
I'm in Ca. and have to watch the Raider broadcast. Brutal. The worst thing is they don't even mention Hawk players. On Nates 35 yard catch, all they talked about was how the CB didn't give up on the play.

I thought they looked good last week
and the Vikings have a pretty combo in Taylor/Peterson.

I didn't see the Packer game, so I can't really comment on that one.

Josh Brown is better than you.

by MFAN on Aug 30, 2007 8:35 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Not really.
The starting LBs have been rested, plus the coaches are substituting the defensive tackles pretty fast and loose. We'll look better in the regular season.

Hackett is having trouble getting separation.
A lot of players have trouble adjusting from the slot to starting. I posted my thoughts on him here.
