Zorn gone.

According to The Seattle Times, Jim Zorn is leaving to take the offensive coordinator job in Washington.

This sucks.

One-line diaries are prohibited on Field Gulls. I've now given my diary more thought. And after all of that thought, I've decided that I need a minimum of 300 characters.

Update: Just to put this into perspective, the reaction around Hogs Haven is generally negative. I don't get it. I mean, I understand Seahawks fans sad to see a hometown favorite departing, but whether this is a good or bad move for either franchise - well...

A place to bury strangers.

God dammit
He probably couldn't turn down the offer. Snyder is crazy when it comes to spending money.

Talk about a letdown.

I know, I'm bummed.
I think my bar tab will be slightly higher than normal tonight.

Josh Brown is better than you. The Rest of the team is worse.

Have I mentioned lately how much I hate
the Redskins?

Hey, good for him.
I'd walk for $Texas money too. Still sucks though. I think Zorn has the makings of an excellent coordinator.

Sounds like Lane Kiffin might be available.

are you a Kiffin fan?
I admit I know nothing about Kiffin, outside of the fact that he's like 19 years old.

I don't know.
I admit, I don't really know how people develop such strong opinions about young coaches. I only kinda feel positive about Mora and that was after hours of researching the guy. Kiffin has virtually no coaching record. His early rise is impressive. Al Davis is a loon. Pete Carroll is not. I can't offer anything substantiative that Wikipedia can't. If anything materializes I'll try and look into it, but, again, you find the guy who knew Bill Belichick was going to be Bill Belichick and...

Obviously...
...Mora probably wasn't going to offer him the promotion Zorn had in mind.

Sad to see him go. Zorn was the original Mr. Seahawk, and he did a whole lot more for a young franchise than most other players get the chance to do.

the Hawks had a chance to keep him
Tim Ruskell isn't infallible, but given the familiarity the Hawks have with Zorn it seems fair to say (as relatively uninformed observers) that if they let Jay-Z (eh? eh?) go the Seahawks are comfortable with him leaving.

Still would have felt better if he hadn't left, though.

Reason Skins fans might be let down
is that our young quarterback, Jason Campbell, has had a different offensive coordinator every year nearly inerrupted since he was in College. Al Saunders was the first one he'd had for more than one year, and now he's apparently gone.

Wish Holmgren would have retired,
and Mora been HC and Zorn OC.
