Trufant signed to 6 year $50 million deal

Update: Isn't this community great? Thanks to notor for breaking the news. Looks like a fair contract. Good for the Seahawks, good for Tru. Marcus Trufant Retro will be up shortly.

20 million in guaranteed money, 34 million over the first 4 years.

Glad that's all over and done with, I'm not sure exactly how much cap room this saves us but we shouldn't have any problems signing draft picks and whatnot now.

As for the contract itself, I think it's a pretty good deal for the franchise, in that it's significantly less than Asante Samuel or stifles laugh DeAngelo Hall's contracts, which were around what Trufant was looking for.

A place to bury strangers.

Nice
Tubbs, Bernard and Hill are the only main guys on D not locked up for the next two years.

I wonder how this is gonna hurt our cap next year though...

Here's hoping
it's another deal designed to take the maximum hit this season.

Amazing!
To be honest, I didn't think a long term deal was going to be reached. Maybe its pessism, but I really felt that he was going to leave us like Josh Brown did for a big pay day.

I'm almost certain that Lofa's signing and his comments regarding a team commitment rather than an individual payday played at least a minor role in Tru's decision to accept a smaller contract than what he would have recieved in FA.

You can't tell me that seeing other teammates restructure their own contracts in order to keep a goood team dynamic didn't have some affect on Tru.

Anyway, what great news!

You have to remember
That Trufant is from Tacoma so this is home for him.

That's a high guaranteed %
But I'm glad he's going to be sticking around!

I think that was the compromise

He got the same guaranteed money that Samuel got with the Eagles, but a smaller contract overall.

that'd be 'too' much
what does he do? he doesn't have time to log on for 5 minutes a day?
Where's Christian?

He is the safety manager for a Refinery cleaning
company. And basically works 4 12s and then travels a bunch

You've been safety inspector for 7 years.
What initiatives have you headed in that time?

Uh...all of them?

this is awesome
I love Tim Ruskell and this defense!

Trufant might have been able to get more on the open market, but him and Lofa stayed loyal to the Hawks.

Now get Hill re-signed and I will do backflips!
