Trufant signed to 6 year $50 million deal
Update: Isn't this community great? Thanks to notor for breaking the news. Looks like a fair contract. Good for the Seahawks, good for Tru. Marcus Trufant Retro will be up shortly.
20 million in guaranteed money, 34 million over the first 4 years.
Glad that's all over and done with, I'm not sure exactly how much cap room this saves us but we shouldn't have any problems signing draft picks and whatnot now.
As for the contract itself, I think it's a pretty good deal for the franchise, in that it's significantly less than Asante Samuel or stifles laugh DeAngelo Hall's contracts, which were around what Trufant was looking for.

Amazing!
I'm almost certain that Lofa's signing and his comments regarding a team commitment rather than an individual payday played at least a minor role in Tru's decision to accept a smaller contract than what he would have recieved in FA.
You can't tell me that seeing other teammates restructure their own contracts in order to keep a goood team dynamic didn't have some affect on Tru.
Anyway, what great news!

I think that was the compromise
He got the same guaranteed money that Samuel got with the Eagles, but a smaller contract overall.

this is awesome
Trufant might have been able to get more on the open market, but him and Lofa stayed loyal to the Hawks.
Now get Hill re-signed and I will do backflips!
