WAR for position player spreadsheets

I posted a link to these in the Sabermetrics 101 thread, and upon doing so I realized that they weren't really all that well suited to being viewed and edited by more than one person at a time. Since some people seemed to be interested, I decided to redo them and make them a bit more user-friendly.

OTFPOTD 12.08.08-Winter Meetings Start Today Edition

I am so anxious for the moves to get rolling I don't know what to do. It's entirely possible we'll be saying goodbye to some familiar (and in some cases well-loved) faces before the week is out, but we may very well be saying hello to some exciting new faces as well. Should be interesting, no matter what, and I'd like to think it's going to turn out better than last year's winter meetings.

My baseball fandom is pretty all encompassing; during the season it's all about the games of course, but this time of year I'm obsessed with roster construction, the ways in which the market is evolving, and the unfamiliar names that tend to first pop up in trade speculation that might end up being tomorrow's superstars. I love this time of year in a much different way than I love the regular season, but I still love it a lot. A random prediction? The market is going to become slightly less retarded when it comes to defensive ability; more precisely, defensive liabilities might be somewhat surprised at the contract offers they get. I'm not sure that a lot of GMs understand how valuable someone like, say, Adam Everett really is, but they very well may realize how much value someone like, say, Adam Dunn gives back on defense. But we'll see. Watch Raul get 4/48 and a starting OF spot.

OT - Annals of Drinking: A Better Brew - The rise of extreme beer.

Great New Yorker article. Mainly about the history of Dogfish Head, but there's plenty of other ineresting stuff to be found. Apparently the brewmaster at Orval likes Budweiser. Who knew?
