Seahawks Injuries: A Sitcom In Search of a Laugh Track

Hooray! We got through the Thanksgiving holiday without any new injuries, or weird stories, or unusual turns of....

Huh? What's that you say?

The latest rarity has center Robbie Tobeck in a Seattle-area hospital indefinitely with an abscess in his left hip -- just as fellow Pro Bowlers Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck are returning to the offense.

A midweek MRI exam revealed the abscess. Now, the 36-year-old veteran of two Super Bowls is spending his Thanksgiving weekend in the hospital under a regimen of antibiotics to fight the infection.

"They've got to watch this thing. He is under heavy antibiotics, I think," Holmgren said. "He's sick."

Chris Spencer will therefore most likely be starting at his preferred position, center, in the Green Bay game at Qwest on Monday night.

Bobby Engram will still be absent for his seventh straight game from complications with his thyroid treatment. Sean Locklear will miss his fourth straight game with an ankle sprain. Rocky Bernard is a game-time decision thanks to his right foot problem. A few secretaries in the Seahawks' front office are experiencing discomfort from carpal tunnel syndrome. Finally, 20-year beer concessionaire Ernie Belkin is fighting off a nasty barley infection.

Coming later this weekend: Scruffy Lefty's weekly injury report, in a special fold-out edition suitable for wallpapering.
