Ex-Seahawk Anthony Simmons Intends to Retire

The Mississippi Clarion-Ledger reports that LB Anthony Simmons is retiring.

Simmons hadn't yet reported to the camp of his current team, the New Orleans Saints, and was considered by team officials to be AWOL. The former Seahawk informed Saints officials of his decision this week.

So, technically speaking, Simmons ends his career having only taken the field as a Seahawk. He reached a personal peak in 2000-2001 with 270 tackles over those two seasons. A wrist injury sidelined Simmons for the entire 2005 season.

Thanks to Scruffy Lefty for the heads-up.
