The Seahawks are having fun!

Seattle Seahawks news, rumors, info, interviews, analysis --  from around the interwebs.

Deep scouting has been the key to Seahawks’ surprises - Shutdown Corner - NFL Blog - Yahoo! Sports
Perhaps even more surprising than the Seattle Seahawks' 36-25 Sunday win over the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium — the franchise's first win in New York since 1983 — were the key contributions made by two undrafted free agents. Receiver Doug Baldwin(notes) and cornerback Brandon Browner(notes) came to the NFL on different career paths, but they're both making a difference for a team in need of quality depth and starter-level talent at positions of uncertainty.

Pocket Presence " The Rookie Scouting Portfolio
No skill set might be more important to the success of a pro quarterback than pocket presence. I believe pocket presence spells the difference between the strong armed, elite athlete who cannot stay on an NFL squad (Josh McCown) and a weaker-armed passer who consistently finds work as a reliable No.2 QB capable of putting his team in position to win games (Bruce Gradkowski and Jeff Garcia).

Some positives and negatives from this game, but overall this Seahawks team is looking good.

Quick notes on Seattle's Browner, Baldwin - NFC West Blog - ESPN
Two notes from the first of two double-digit victories for NFC West teams over East Coast opponents (just wanted to know what it felt like to type that)...

NFL Week 5: On this Sunday, the West is the best - latimes.com
San Diego, Seattle and Oakland travel to points east and earn impressive wins. Raiders' victory at Houston, a day after Al Davis' death, is particularly emotional. San Francisco wins at home.

Draw It Up: Green Bay and the 'Dig' Pattern - The Triangle Blog - Through the first four weeks of the season, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers made it look easy, tossing passes over and between defenders, and generally making them look silly.

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | Audibles at the Line: Week 5 - Seattle Seahawks 36 at New York Giants 25 Doug Farrar: Seahawks give Michael Robinson three straight fullback blasts in the second quarter in the red zone, and it's Seattle's second fumble today in that area. I am having Notre Dame flashbacks.

Week 5 Sunday rewind | National Football Post
Let’s go back and check out the Week 5 Sunday schedule. Ten topics you should be talking about today after watching the games…

Quinton Coples is over rated " Seahawks Draft Blog
I’ve just finished watching the Louisville vs North Carolina game from Saturday, focusing on UNC defensive lineman Quinton Coples. I’ve never been that impressed when I’ve watched him in the past, but this was a game I thought he had a chance to dominate. Louisville are struggling a bit – losing at home to Marshall the previous week and starting a freshman left guard who had only recently converted from defense.

Seahawks 36, Giants 25: Some Telling Statistics
I love looking through box scores on a Sunday evening. Not just the Seahawks games but for all the NFL games. It is interesting to take the stats, look at the final score, and figure out which stats were the important ones and game changers. It isn’t always just the highest yardage totals that win. Here are a few stats I saw in the Seahawks-Giants box score that I think made a huge difference in this game.

Seattle Seahawks Blog - Hawk Blogger: The Morning After: Seahawks Win 36-25 vs. Giants
Seattle had been in this situation before. After dominating much of the game against a favored New York team, they clung to a lead with the opponent perilously close to the end zone.

Jim Harbaugh took a moment and reminded his team to stay humble, to keep working. Since the day he became 49ers coach back in January, Harbaugh has talked about the "process" of turning around a franchise.

Whitehurst credits Washington for 'heads up play' - Daily Links Blog - MyNorthwest.com
The box score will show only a 27-yard touchdown pass from Charlie Whitehurst to Doug Baldwin. But a day after the Seahawks pulled off an improbable upset of the Giants in New York, Whitehurst said another Seahawk -- Leon Washington -- deserves some credit for the play that helped them do so.

It was just one win. Just one. And yet, it was so much more.

Charlie Whitehurst finished Seattle’s impressive win over the New York Giants on Sunday. But will he start for the Seahawks when they travel to Cleveland to take on Mike Holmgren’s Browns in two weeks?

Victor Cruz couldn’t handle Eli Manning’s pass, and as it wound up in the hands of Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner, apparent defeat turned to certain victory for Seattle in New York on Sunday.

Seahawks poll: What to do at quarterback? | Seattle Seahawks & NFL News - seattlepi.com
Tarvaris Jackson played fine on Sunday. Until he strained his right pectoral early in the third quarter and had to sit the rest of the game, that is.

Here are five things I learned from Week 5:

Seahawks.com Blog | Game at a glance "
WORTH NOTING With his eight-catch, 136-yard day, Baldwin continues to lead the team in receptions (20) and receiving yards (330). In fact, he’s on pace for a 64-catch, 1,056-yard season.

A Giant step in the right direction
The Seahawks overcame a 3-1 Giants team, and their own miscues, on Sunday to grab a wild 36-25 victory at MetLife Stadium that pumped new life into their season

Once again, the Hawks’ no-huddle works wonders | Seattle Seahawks - The News Tribune
Wind it up and let it go. That’s what the Seattle Seahawks did with their version of the no-huddle offense. The Seahawks scored on the team’s opening drive for the first time this season, and also scored 14 points in the first half – one point more than their combined total for first halves through four games this year.

Defensive pressure disrupts Manning | Seattle Seahawks - The News Tribune
Seahawks defensive tackle Alan Branch said his motivation playing the New York Giants was simple – keep the sacks in the defensive line’s domain.

Steve Kelley | Lesser-known Seahawks make their presence known | Seattle Times Newspaper
In the fourth quarter, in the madness of the Meadowlands, the Seahawks' backup quarterback threw the go-ahead touchdown pass to an undrafted free-agent rookie receiver.

Matt Barkley vs Ryan Tannehill – game tape " Seahawks Draft Blog
Some people believe Ryan Tannehill could be better than Matt Barkley. I strongly disagree with that suggestion. Very strongly. Below you’ll find six videos – the first three are all of Barkley’s throws against Minnesota, Arizona State and Arizona. The second three feature Tannehill’s throws against SMU, Oklahoma State and Arkansas.

ROUNDUP / Seahawks' understudies star on New York stage
Unsung is an understatement for the men who lifted the Seattle Seahawks to victory Sunday.

Suck for Barkley " Wait For It Seattle
Well, the Seahawks aren’t as bad as we all thought. In fact, they aren’t as bad as anyone thought. Survivor pools across the nation are dying tonight as the lowly Seattle Seahawks went into big bad New York and made Eli Manning look like Eli Manning. As I have discussed before, it is hard to root for the Hawks at times because it feels like they are stuck in a perpetual 7-9 or 8-8 cycle. With Tarvaris Jackson at quarterback this doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. Yet somehow, someway the Seattle Seahawks turned into an entertaining team. And in the process they have won two out of the last three games.
