NFL Power Rankings: Seahawks Hovering

The Seahawks lost, but played better than they have thus far this year, and not surprisingly, mostly hovered in the power rankings compiled by the major sports outlets. Some moved the Hawks up despite the loss, some moved them down. Brian Billick really loves the Seahawks, for whatever that's worth.

As far as statistical analyses go, Football Outsiders has the Seahawks 28th in total DVOA, up one from 29th last week, and 30th in total DAVE. They are 26th in Offensive DVOA, 15th in Defensive DVOA, and 30th in Special Teams DVOA. Not a whole lot of change. For more explanation on all that, go to FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS

Here's what people around the NFL are saying about the Hawks.

NFL.com
26 (29) Elliot Harrison: How much did the 12th man want Steven Hauschka to bang that 61-yarder through? Seattle needed that upset like Top 40 radio needs talent. So what's the upside in almost upsetting a perceived quality team, like Atlanta? Tarvaris Jackson showed everybody something in the second half. A stat line of 25 of 38 for 319 yards has never been uttered next to Jackson's name. The defense was solid against the run, again. The Seahawks are allowing only 3.2 yards per carry (third in NFL) and forcing teams to beat them with the pass, which hasn't exactly been tough to do.

27 (27) Staff: It was a nice rally, but they still haven't gotten Lynch going.

Sporting News
31 (31) Vinnie Iyer: Don't look now, but that former Vikings passing connection of Tarvaris Jackson and Sidney Rice has given them life. Unfortunately, little else works in Seattle.

ESPN
25 (24): Mike Sando: Outscored 67-13 in first halves, the Seahawks seek a quick start at the Giants in Week 5.

24 (23) Pete Prisco: They showed some feistiness in coming back against Atlanta. Tarvaris Jackson looked decent in the second half.

National Football Post
28 (28) Seattle Seahawks (1-3): Where are the big plays from RB Marshawn Lynch?

SBNation.com
28 (26): Joel Thorman: I just don't know how they're going to score a lot of points. 29th in the league right now.

FOX Sports on MSN
21 (30) Brian Billick: Give Seattle credit for almost pulling out a win against the better Falcons, but they are losing touch with San Francisco in the division and can’t afford to lose any games at home.

No mention of the Seahawks. (???!???!!)
