Top Ten Best Draft Picks In Seahawks' History: #8 - John Harris

With the 178th selection in the 1978 NFL Draft (7th round), the Seahawks selected DB John Harris out of Arizona State. Harris wasted no time in winning the starting job at free safety as a rookie, and was an immediate impact player, picking off 4 passes.

He was injured a large part of his second season, but came back in his third and had 6 interceptions. In 1981, his fourth season, he teamed up with Kenny Easley in the defensive backfield and picked off 10 passes, returning 2 for touchdowns. He also recovered 3 fumbles. The combination of Easley and Harris gave the Hawks one of the best safety tandems in the NFL and franchise history.

Harris played for the Seahawks for eight seasons and was the definition of a ballhawk. He intercepted 41 passes in his career with the Hawks and his impressive career numbers combined with the fact he was a 7th round draft pick earn him a spot on this illustrious list.

As I'm too young to remember seeing him play, I'd like to ask: do any of you have any great memories of Harris?
