Top Ten Best Draft Picks In Seahawks' History: #5 - Jacob Green

With the 10th pick in the 1980 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks selected a defensive end out of Texas A&M named Jacob Green. After compiling 134 tackles and an amazing 20 sacks his final year at A&M, the Hawks were eager to bring in the pass rushing specialist and they were not disappointed with the pick.

Green wasted no time in making an impact in the league. He was a dominant force in pretty much every season he played. He was All-Pro in only his 3rd season, 1983. His most prolific years were 1983-1986, where he racked up 54.5 sacks in 4 seasons. He made the Pro-Bowl in 1986 and 1987.

In 13 seasons with the Hawks he registered an official 97.5 sacks - at the time of his retirement he was 3rd all-time in total sacks behind only Reggie White and Lawrence Taylor. His unofficial sack total is even more impressive, sitting at 116 (the NFL started recording sacks as an official stat after his 3rd season).

He is the greatest defensive end in Seattle Seahawks history and one of the best of all time. He holds a spot in the Seahawks' Ring of Honor. He's also current Seahawk Red Bryant's father-in-law.
