Top Ten Best Draft Picks In Seahawks' History: #4 - Kenny Easley

With the 4th pick in the 1981 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahwaks selected Kenny Easley, a safety out of UCLA. Easley came in and made an immediate impact on the Seahawks' defense, picking off 3 passes and winning AFC Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. Not a bad start.

He picked off 4 passes in '82 and in 1983, he was selected as the AFC Defensive Player of the Year after he picked off 7 passes and added 3 sacks. Not stopping there, the next season he won NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors while intercepting 10 passes and returning two of them for touchdowns.

Easley is the best safety in Seahawks' history and one of the best of all time. He was a 5 time Pro-Bolwer, 4 time All-Pro, was named to the NFL All Decade team for the 1980s, and is in the Seahawks' Ring of Honor.

His career was cut short by ankle and kidney injuries but had he played longer he'd undoubtedly already be in the Hall of Fame, an honor he should still be granted. He is the only member of the 1980's NFL All-Decade Team yet to be inducted, so rest assured it should happen soon.
