Coffee and Cigarettes: Seahawks Links for Monday

Seattle Seahawks news, rumors, links, info, interviews, analysis, and more! Happy Monday morning y'all. Hope you had a great weekend but now it's time to get back to football. I mean work.

Twitter / @dkaplanSBJ: Judg boylan will require t ... : "Judg boylan will require the league and players to meet with him july 19 in minnesota. That does not preclude any meetings next wk"

Monday’s labor talks will be lawyer only | ProFootballTalk: "Next week's labor talks will start with a similar structure to the last two weeks: The lawyers will start face-to-face work on Monday.  Albert Breer of NFL Network reports that owners and players are expected to arrive Tuesday or Wednesday."

Monte Poole: Ex-Cal star Marshawn Lynch working on repainting image - San Jose Mercury News: "The Seattle Seahawks running back realizes he's a symbol of influence, certainly to youth, and doesn't want to fumble away his opportunity. He's making a valiant effort. Lynch, 25, wants to repaint the image that followed him from Berkeley, where he was a wild child with charm, to Buffalo, where in the wee hours he drove his SUV into a pedestrian and sped off, to Los Angeles, where he was arrested for gun possession, and back to Buffalo, where last summer the then-Bills running back was accused of taking $20 from a woman he met at a TGI Friday's."

Cannon remains fired up during treatments - The Boston Globe: "Right man for the job? While free agent quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has maintained he would like to re-sign with the Seahawks, a path away from Seattle has opened up for the Norfolk native and former Boston College star."

NFP Sunday Blitz | National Football Post: "Offensive and defensive coordinators get the glory and the blame. Line coaches on both sides of the ball can be difference makers. Special teams coaches usually touch more areas of their teams than any other assistant. But in many cases, the most valuable assistant coach on a staff is the assistant head coach. Not every team has one. By my count there are 21 in the league now."

The other side of the Arthur Boylan vacation | ProFootballTalk: "We’ve given U.S. Magistrate Jude Arthur Boylan a hard time lately for his decision to go on vacation during one of the most critical junctures of the labor talks. And we’re not the only ones perplexed by Boylan’s decision to bail. "If he wants a seat at the ‘big boys’ table, he could change or skip his vacation," one team executive said.  "To be known as the ‘man who saved football’ would be a nice swap."

Seattle Seahawks: Transition from Matt Hasselbeck to the Future at QB, Part 1 | Bleacher Report: "How can the Seahawks build a bridge to the future at quarterback? That's a question for anyone who spends even the slightest bit of brain power thinking about the Seahawks. After all, Charlie Whitehurst is the one quarterback on the roster, a 1-1 career record as a starter. Matt Hasselbeck has been a face of the franchise for the past decade, now an aging free agent; Whitehurst is an unproven veteran—technically the Seahawks' 2011 third round pick, traded to San Diego in 2010—and has a "50-50" chance at going into training camp as the starter."
