First off, as usual, Pete Carroll stirred the pot on Wednesday night on Twitter by saying some pretty intriguing albeit exceedingly vague things. I'm not reading too much into what he said but it makes for some fun speculation, which is exactly what Pete was hoping for I'm sure.
We'll let you know on saturday RT @Purdue_95: @PeteCarroll Who goes into camp as the starting QB?
Getting better this weekend! RT @AstinGreer: @PeteCarroll How's the QB situation looking? I know you've got something up your sleeve
Anyway, I'm not going to comment a whole lot on it -- he alludes to the idea that the Seahawks still have a plan in place for a 'starting QB'. He could be referring to Tarvaris Jackson, as he won't officially sign until Friday, or he could have another QB signing in line but we have no real way of knowing. Vince Young? Is Carson Palmer still on the table? Kyle Orton? I will let you all speculate about it and do so in the commentary below!
Second on my list of rumors of note is the report that Saints' free agent DE Jimmy Wilkerson will visit the Seahawks next week. Per Brian McIntyre, "Wilkerson (6-2, 270) signed a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008, and has started 16 games over the last two seasons, including all 15 he was active last season." He's had 11 sacks in two seasons with Tampa Bay and apparently the Hawks had interest in him last season as well. He's coming off a 2009 ACL surgery so should now be back to full speed.
Also per Mac, it's "worth noting that during Jimmy Wilkerson's best seasons in Tampa (08-09), first-year #Seahawks DL Todd Wash was his position coach."
Finally, I'll leave you with one final rumor: Per Jim Wyatt, a Titans beat writer, the Seahawks are indeed interested in free agent TE Daniel Fells. If this name sounds familiar it's because I have semi-lobbied for Fells as I think he'd be a solid fit here in Seattle. Check out my piece on Fells here.
I'm sure I'll be updating this list throughout the day but you can go ahead and use this as your free agency open thread for the next few hours. Strap in folks, it's gonna be a fun day.
