Great insight from @gregcosell on Kaepernick over Smith from his tape study: "Kaepernick gives the 49ers offense so much more than Smith, 49ers now have a multi-dimensional passing game plus the dimensions of the "Pistol" and the read option."

NFL playoff scenarios, Week 16: Bengals, Redskins, Seahawks can all clinch this week - SBNation.com
The playoff picture could get a little more focus this week.

‘13 Tight End Rankings
Unlike most pundits we feel the tight end class will be terrific if the top underclassmen declare for the draft. There are a number of outstanding three down players for the next level who hold their own blocking or getting into the secondary as pass catchers. The senior class itself is an uninspired group.

‘13 Wide Receiver Rankings
If there’s one word that can be used to describe next April’s receiver class it would be average. There are few prospects who project as number one receivers at the next level, not a lot of size as we saw in the last draft nor underclassmen to save the day.

Star power: Aldon Smith. On a team loaded with candidates, none have shined brighter this season than the second-year linebacker/rush-end. Smith has 19.5 sacks to share the NFL lead with J.J. Watt of the Texans. And while many consider Watt the shoo-in for NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Smith’s late-season surge has others say, "What?" As Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk put it during NFL GameDay on the NFL Network, "Aldon Smith is the defensive MVP. He is not just a pass rusher, he sacrifices sacks by dropping into coverage." Smith also has 58 tackles, which ranks sixth on the 49ers’ No. 2-ranked defense, and leads the unit with three forced fumbles. While Smith went without a sack against the Patriots, despite Tom Brady putting the ball up 65 times, he had 14 in his previous six games.

Analyzing the Failed Evan Moore Experiment in Seattle | Bleacher Report
Whether the level of anticipation was warranted or not, the hype surrounding tight end Evan Moore when he arrived in Seattle was a little much for a guy who wasn't even a starter in his previous stop with the Cleveland Browns. In 33 games for the Browns, Moore racked up 62 catches, 804 yards receiving and five touchdowns. Additionally, he averaged almost 13 (12.9) yards per reception.

C.J. Mosley (LB, Alabama) vs Tennessee " Seahawks Draft Blog
We’ve spent a lot of time discussing Alec Ogletree and Arthur Brown so far, now it’s time to take a look at C.J. Mosley. He’s another playmaking linebacker who fits Seattle’s scheme. You’re talking about three solid options for the first two rounds of the draft. Throw in Khaseem Greene at Rutgers, and there’s plenty of depth if the Seahawks wants to upgrade at the WILL during the off-season.

Kyle Shanahan on coaching fast track with Redskins' malleability - NFL.com
Russell Wilson vs. the San Francisco 49ers' defense. The Seattle Seahawks' electrifying rookie has really only had two face-in-the-pavement games as a pro: at St. Louis in September and at San Francisco in October. Since that bad night at Candlestick, Wilson hasn't had a game where he threw more picks than touchdown passes and the Seahawks are 5-2.

Seahawks dominating like no NFL team in more than 70 years | ProFootballTalk
The Seahawks have won their last two games by scores of 58-0 and 50-17, a total combined margin of victory of 91 points. That doesn’t happen every year. Or even every half-century. In fact, NFL information man Randall Liu confirmed today that it’s been more than 70 years since a team has won back to back games by a combined victory margin of more than 91 points. The last team to do it? The 1941 Chicago Bears.

NFL Week 15: Five questions | National Football Post
5. Did Pete Carroll and the Seahawks run up the score on the Bills? The fake punt the Seahawks ran with a 47-17 lead is going to drive some discussion, but I do believe Carroll’s comments after the game. I played special teams for seven seasons in the NFL and everyone has a fake punt in their game plan. When do you run it? That’s based off of what the Personal Protector (lines up behind the center) reads at the line of scrimmage. If you get the look you saw on tape everyday in meetings and from the scout team on the practice field, then go with it. However, there comes a time when the head coach has to put it to bed. That’s on Carroll. Call it off and warm up the bus for the airport. And by the way, the Seahawks are rolling.

Looking back: The most surprising games of the year
Five weeks ago, I looked at the most surprising results of the season. It’s time to update that post now that most of the season is in the books. First, we need to rank the teams. The table below shows each team’s current Simple Rating System rating through week 15. As a reminder, the SRS is simply the sum of a team’s margin of victory and strength of schedule.

Sports Radio Interviews " Blog Archive " Leonard Hankerson Says Things Weren’t That Much Different With Kirk Cousins As the Starting Quarterback
Leonard Hankerson joined ESPN 980 in Washington D.C. with the Sports Reporters to talk about whether he felt he needed to be the player to stop the run of three and outs early in the game against the Browns this past week, if he thought he was touched down on his first touchdown catch, how much different things were in the huddle with Kirk Cousins as opposed to Robert Griffin III, if he lobbied to Kirk Cousins to throw him the ball and whether he got off to a slow start this season because of his offseason hip surgery.

Seattle Seahawks Blog - Hawk Blogger: Personnel differences since first Seahawks/49ers game
No two games are exactly alike in the NFL, even when the same two team plays. The Seahawks and 49ers play for the second time this year, but there are some differences between the teams that played in mid-October and the ones that will take the field on Sunday.
