101Sports.com: Tony Softli - Top 5 Defensive Linemen in 2012 NFL Draft
In the game of football, whoever controls the line of scrimmage wins more games than they lose. In any defensive front, the game of football starts up front with the big men on the defensive line; they set the tone. Their ability to control and dominate the line of scrimmage is the key to the any defensive formation. When grading defensive linemen, I divided them into five categories: 4-3 DE (defensive end), 3-4 DE (defensive end), DT (defensive tackle), NT (nose tackle) and DPR (designated pass rusher).

The Shutdown 50 — #17: Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame | Shutdown Corner - Yahoo! Sports
We continue this year's series with Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd. Floyd is a talented receiving prospect with issues. That happens a lot; when I type "talented receiving prospect," AutoText fills in "with issues" automatically so I can save a few character strokes. In Floyd's case, these issues include three underage drinking and DUI incidents and arrests. As the old saying in scouting goes, once is a mistake, twice is a pattern, and three is Janoris Jenkins. While a little underage drinking on a college campus can be shrugged off, a DUI does not exactly demonstrate that Floyd learned from his previous mistakes.

Draft positional series: Quarterbacks - NFL - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com
While NFL Draft followers are focused forward on quarterbacks Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III, aka RG3, as the predetermined 1-2 knockout punch in this year's event, it is interesting to look backward. Quarterbacks are at once the most scrutinized and misdiagnosed players in football. NFL history is littered with spectacular mistakes in overrating and overlooking players at the most crucial position in the game.

Seahawks.com Blog | A few moments with: Whitney Mercilus "
"Startling" is the word often used to describe Whitney Mercilus’ 2011 season at Illinois – his junior season. "Puzzling" is another word that comes up during discussions of the 6-foot-4, 261-pound pass-rusher. It starts with whether Mercilus is a rush-end, or an outside linebacker. It continues with how a guy who produced two sacks in his first two seasons could suddenly lead the nation with 16 – not to mention nine forced fumbles.

How picks 7-11 could impact the Seahawks " Seahawks Draft Blog
Jacksonville Jaguars They’re till a major mystery given nobody’s really sure who’s making the pick. Shahid Khan (the owner) and Gene Smith (the GM) could have different ideas about the #7 pick. Khan’s pursuit of Tim Tebow was all about ticket sales, and this is his first opportunity to get involved in a draft. Despite signing a new contract, Smith’s position was slightly undermined in the bid for Tebow and speculation has suggested he may leave the franchise after the draft. You have to believe Khan would like the big name, flashy pick. They need a receiver to help Blaine Gabbert, so Justin Blackmon and Michael Floyd fits the bill. Khan may also buy into the potential of a physical specimen like Quinton Coples. Smith is more unpredictable and less inclined to fall in love with athletic potential. Stephon Gilmore, Courtney Upshaw, Whitney Mercilus, Melvin Ingram, Riley Reiff, Luke Kuechly – who knows what he’d do. It’s worth remembering that it was Smith who traded up for Gabbert and he may feel obliged to support that decision with help for the offense.
