A couple new prospects to keep your eye on for the Seahawks, as UConn OL Mike Ryan and LSU G Will Blackwell are set to visit VMAC this week. Links here and here, tip of the cap to Davis for pointing them out. We've now tracked 17 of the 30 'official' non-local visits for the Seahawks.

Mike Ryan, per NFL.com's Gil Brandt, was a "surprise standout" at UConn's pro day last week. Per Brandt, he ran 5.24- and 5.26-second 40-yard dashes, had a 28 1/2-inch vertical leap, 8-foot-2 broad jump, 4.93-second short shuttle, 7.80-second three-cone drill, and 33-inch arms." He's a 6'5, 319 pound lineman that played LT and RT for the Huskies in 2011, was a reliable pass blocker and according to scouting reports, a very good run blocker. At LT, he was even asked to pull across the line for the Huskies in run blocking.

OG Will Blackwell is an All-SEC guard that was a blue-chip prospect out of high school. He's ranked 30th in NFL Draft Scout.com's rankings so my guess is he'll be a mid-late round pick. One scouting report I found on him at PFW said this - "Underpowered guard with good feet and a feisty temperament, but needs help, is light in pants and spends too much time on the ground." The good feet and feisty temperament sounds about right - the light in the pants part is weird, and the spends too much time on the ground part is concerning. Either way - someone to keep an eye on. Going All-SEC isn't necessarily something to bat an eye at.

My guess is that the Seahawks would see him as a developmental project because he's got a lot to work with. If he could bulk up physically, his footwork and tenacity along with his ridiculously long 33 3/4" arms and 81" wingspan would be nice tools.
