49ers' Aldon Smith Stabbed, Injuries Not Serious

49ers defensive end Aldon Smith was stabbed last night at a party, the team confirmed, but the injuries aren't considered serious. The Niners' issued a statement once the news got out:

"The San Francisco 49ers are aware that Aldon Smith incurred minor injuries during an incident last night. We are in contact with Aldon, and thankful that his injuries were not more serious and that he is recovering comfortably. The 49ers are also in communication with local authorities as they gather information regarding the incident, and will reserve further comment at this time."

According to the Santa Clara Sheriff's Office, there were also two partygoers that suffered gunshot wounds.

Smith made news in January as well when he was arrested for DUI in Miami. The No. 7 overall pick of the 49ers in 2011, he signed a four-year, $14.38 million contract with an $8.96 million signing bonus. He got a rookie record of 14.5 sacks last year, playing almost exclusively in the Niners' nickel packages. He also had two sacks and four tackles in two postseason games.
