Marshawn Lynch Arrested for DUI

Marshawn Lynch was arrested for DUI in Oakland this past weekend, according to multiple reports. Mercury News.com explains that Alameda County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Raymond Kelly announced that Lynch was arrested by the California Highway Patrol in Oakland, with SFGate noting that "Lynch was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, where he was cited for driving under the influence and driving with a blood-alcohol level of more than the legal limit of 0.08 percent, both misdemeanors."

The arrest comes two days after he and his cousin, 49ers QB Josh Johnson, awarded an Oakland gunshot victim a scholarship.

Lynch was also suspended for the first three games of the 2009 season for violating the league's personal conduct policy, related to a misdemeanor gun charge in L.A. He was also cited in 2008 for hitting a pedestrian with his car and leaving the scene in Buffalo, N.Y. He claimed that he hadn't realized he had hit the woman, but pleaded guilty and his license was revoked. Because he's now had multiple arrests, there's a greater chance this could lead to a suspension going forward, which would be awful news for the Seahawks, especially considering the difficulty of their early-season opponents. The Seahawks released a statement that said, "We are aware of the situation with Marshawn and are still gathering information."

If Lynch does end up with a suspension, it's likely we'll get to see a lot of rookie running back Robert Turbin early on.
