Seahawks re-sign DT/DE Greg Scruggs, waive S Steven Terrell

Joe Nicholson-US PRESSWIRE

The Seahawks have re-signed defensive end Greg Scruggs and waived safety Steven Terrell.

Terrell was called up to the active roster from the practice squad on Saturday when Kam Chancellor wasn't sure if he'd be able to play, then got some action in the game when Byron Maxwell went out with a calf sprain.

With Terrell's release and Maxwell's calf sprain, it gives some hope that Tharold Simon may be back up to speed and ready to play this week, alleviating some issues with depth at the position. Simon may even get the start in Maxwell's place if he's up to speed and ready to go, but the Seahawks could instead put either Marcus Burley or DeShawn Shead out there as well. The team could also sign a street free agent or look to make a trade, if the injury situation looks desperate enough.

Jeremy Lane is back to practice as well but will not be eligible to play for a few weeks.
