NFL Coaching search tracker: Seahawks' Dan Quinn, Tom Cable receive interest from multiple teams

With big changes likely coming with the 49ers, Jets, Falcons, Raiders, and Bears, I just wanted to put a very quick look at which coaches are getting attention from which teams. The Seahawks are getting a lot of attention from ... well, everyone, and Tom Cable, Dan Quinn, and Trent Kirchner are the hot names.

UPDATE: The Bills are now eyeing both Bevell and Quinn after Doug Marrone opted out of his deal.

Here's what we've heard in terms of requests for interviews by each team:

San Francisco 49ers:

- Sitting DC Vic Fangio
- Sitting DL Coach Jim Tomsula
- Former Jets HC Rex Ryan
- Denver Broncos OC Adam Gase
- New England Patriots OC Josh McDaniels
- Seattle Seahawks DC Dan Quinn
- Former Washington HC Mike Shanahan
- Detroit Lions DC Teryl Austin
- Arizona Cardinals DC Todd Bowles
- Cleveland Browns OC Kyle Shanahan
- UCLA HC Jim L. Mora

The favorite here may be Vic Fangio or Jim Tomsula, and it sounds like players are lobbying for an inside hire to help preserve some continuity. We've also heard that Justin Smith may not retire if it's an internal hire, so that may have some effect on the process for Jed York and Trent Baalke.

Considering the apparent disfunction in the front office in San Francisco and the outrageous expectations that York apparently has for the new coach in year one (a Super Bowl win or you're in trouble), the coaching search in San Francisco will be interesting to watch. Whoever ends up going there must have some apprehension about coaching for a team that ran off Jim Harbaugh despite all the success he had.

The Jets are going to interview a lot of candidates, including Tom Cable and Dan Quinn. If Seattle must lose any of their coaching staff, I'm hoping it will be to an AFC team like the Jets.
