The Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers in Week 11 and after helping his team to a big win in his first start replacing Colin Kaepernick, Blaine Gabbert will remain the Niners' starter for at least another game.
Gabbert finished 15-of-25 for 185 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while leading the Niners to a 17-16 win over Dan Quinn's Falcons. Gabbert completed passes to seven different receivers, including two touchdown passes to tight end Garrett Celek. It was an up and down performance from the former 10th overall pick, but San Francisco got 18 first downs after gaining just 11 last week against the Rams and just 8 against the Seahawks. That's certainly progress, especially considering Carlos Hyde and Anquan Boldin were out this week.
The Seahawks have obviously had Colin Kaepernick's number over the past few meetings so this isn't terribly surprising news. Gabbert provided a spark for a team that badly needed one. Now they'll get to find out if it was a fluke or if they may have something with their backup.
Jason La Canfora also reported on Sunday that Colin Kaepernick is all but gone from San Francisco after this season, so there's the injury fear at play here as well. Kaepernick's contract is only guaranteed for injury in 2016.
