John Schneider told reporters here at the NFL Combine that Jeremy Lane not only broke his wrist when he fell after intercepting Tom Brady in the Super Bowl, he also suffered a knee injury that will need surgery to repair. Schneider said that Lane will likely miss the start of the 2015 season so with Byron Maxwell's likely departure in free agency, Seattle's needs at cornerback come into focus.
Right now, the Seahawks have five cornerbacks expected back next season -- Richard Sherman, Jeremy Lane, Tharold Simon, Marcus Burley, and DeShawn Shead. Shead lined up more often as a safety this past year, also gets some reps at cornerback, but regardless, with Lane likely out to begin the year, Seattle will need to make a few moves at that spot.
The Draft is the first priority, I'm guessing, and they may select one or two players at that position this year. But, the Seahawks may also test the free agent waters if Byron Maxwell leaves for a big deal elsewhere. Walter Thurmond, after sitting out most of last year due to injury, is one option, and former Niners Perrish Cox, Chris Culliver, and Tarrell Brown are all entering the free agent waters as well.
