Seahawks re-sign Lemuel Jeanpierre

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Seahawks have re-signed center Lemuel Jeanpierre. The sixth-year pro started three games last season and has 11 starts for Seattle in his career. With the trade of Max Unger to the Saints as part of the Jimmy Graham deal, the Seahawks are obviously looking to add some depth at the position, which is currently manned by Patrick Lewis, Jared Wheeler, and Drew Novak. Only Lewis has any game experience with the Hawks. Jeanpierre can and has played guard for the Hawks too, and obviously with James Carpenter's departure that's another spot that needs a starter.

The move comes a couple of days after the Jaguars signed free agent Stefen Wisneiwski, a player the Seahawks had shown some interest in, so it's possible Seattle was waiting to see what came from that situation before re-signing Jeanpierre - Wisneiwski had been regarded as the second best center in free agency but a recent shoulder surgery ultimately limited his value. He ended up getting a $2.5M, one-year deal.

Here's what the Seahawks' offseason has looked like thus far (counting late-season extensions for Avril/Wright):
