Finally making his NFL debut, San Diego’s Joey Bosa notched two sacks and played well in limited snaps versus the Oakland Raiders. The Ohio State product was the 3rd overall pick in this year’s draft, and he is mostly known as the rookie that held out due to his contract negotiations with Chargers management. While the contract was signed before the season started, Bosa suffered a hamstring injury which sidelined him for the first four weeks.
In this video breakdown, I looked at Joey Bosa’s two sacks versus the Oakland Raiders in his official NFL debut.
As you can see from the video, both sacks were due to his second level of effort. The first sack came on a three-man stunt, while the second came from a speed rush after fellow edge rusher, Melvin Ingram, helped collapse the pocket. To finish the day, Bosa also had one quarterback hit, four hurries, and two run stops according to ProFootballFocus.
The Chargers are now 1-4 and look to be destined to have a top five pick in the 2017 NFL Draft if they don’t recover from their early season woes.
