In a roundup of NFL power rankings articles by Reddit, these are the top five teams in the NFL on average (based on opinions of various people):
Seattle’s best showing in any poll is over at Yahoo! where they are second. B/R, CBS, and USA Today still have the least amount of faith in the Hawks, each ranking them seventh.
The polls do make for an interesting matchup on Sunday with Atlanta coming to Seattle for one of the best early-season games of the year so far. (Or so we’ll find out.) The Falcons have shot up to the number four spot thanks to having the number one scoring offense and a career-year from 31-year-old Matt Ryan. It’s also the first meeting between Pete Carroll and his former protege, Dan Quinn.
Atlanta is coming off of a victory over Denver, and a fairly convincing one at that, but remain one spot behind them in the averages of these power rankings; The Falcons are ahead of them by one spot in nearly every page except they are two back at ESPN and still eight back according to 538. Really it’s just Nate Silver’s website that’s giving the Broncos such a high ranking based on ELO Rating — but they were also without starting quarterback Trevor Siemian on Sunday.
Denver plays the San Diego Chargers on Thursday.
The Patriots rebounded for a win with the return of Tom Brady, which you could argue makes them the best team in the NFL once again, while the Vikings are an easy choice for number one right now as the only undefeated team remaining.
Seattle has a pretty interesting schedule ahead, with Atlanta, Arizona (average ranking: 13.6), Buffalo (12.8), New England (2.0), Philadelphia (9.9), and Green Bay (6.9) upcoming on the slate.
