Update: Michael Bennett, while extremely upset about the block, said after the game that he’ll be fine and will play next week. A huge break for Seattle.

One play after laying a bit hit on Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett was on the ground following a cut block from tackle Jake Matthews. Bennett’s right knee was laid into with the full force of Matthew’s body and bent backwards, immediately sending him down clutching his knee. Bennett was helped off of the field shortly after.
On the play, Ryan threw a touchdown pass to Mohamed Sanu to setup a 17-17 tie in the third quarter.
Bennett has five tackles and five QB hits on Sunday, including one tackle for a loss. He’s been all over as the team has pressured Ryan constantly throughout the game. His loss is a big one. Cliff Avril has two sacks, Jarran Reed has one. Bennett has three sacks on the season. He’s been very vocal about wanting to get a more lucrative contract but his does not expire until after the 2017 season.
