With C.J. Prosise healthy again, the Seattle Seahawks have released C.J. Spiller, bringing his time in Seattle to an end ... until the next time, perhaps. Prosise was active and Spiller was left inactive during Sunday’s 6-6 tie against the Arizona Cardinals.
In a corresponding move, the Seahawks have once again brought back fullback Will Tukuafu, giving them more diversity in the backfield and a variety of options that complement each other rather than both CJ’s.
Seattle also signed quarterback Joel Stave to their practice squad. With Stave, the Seahawks now have all three of Wisconsin’s primary quarterbacks from 2011-2015: Russell Wilson, Tanner McEvoy, and Stave. The move is a mildly interesting one but also serves as a reminder that Jake Heaps was thought to be close to making the team and now who knows where he is. (Chilling, I presume.)
Seattle travels to face the New Orleans Saints this weekend, meaning there will be no Spiller-Saints reunion. Not on the field at least.
