Sam’s Film Room: How Carson Wentz threw 2 picks vs Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday and much of that was due to Carson Wentz — the rookie quarterback from North Dakota State — making bad decisions, forcing passes down the field; two of those passes resulted in interceptions by the Seahawks.

In this video breakdown, I discuss the reasons behind Wentz’s two picks and how he needs to improve in the future.

In general, Seattle did a great job limiting the Philly’s downfield attempts. Wentz only completed one of his five passes for more than 20 yards. He has to stay disciplined and keep progressing through his reads practicing his fundamentals to return to his early season success.

The Seahawks face another recent “elite QB prospect” when they take on Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday; if they can pick him off twice (likely without starters Earl Thomas and DeShawn Shead) they’ll be in good shape to improve to 8-2-1. Seattle has a strong hold the 2 seed in the NFC, while Tampa Bay, Philadelphia, and Green Bay are still in the playoff hunt.
