Pete Carroll: C.J. Prosise will play a lot vs Patriots, Christine Michael essentially was benched Monday

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

A I wrote on Tuesday, it sure seemed like C.J. Prosise had surpassed Christine Michael as the lead running back for the Seattle Seahawks. He nearly had as many snaps as Michael two weeks ago against the New Orleans Saints, and then on Monday vs Buffalo, he was basically the only running back on the field in the second half. Not everybody comment section agreed with me — as one would expect — but Pete Carroll sure seems to.

It sounds to me like Prosise will be getting most of the snaps at running back vs the Patriots and that the coaches -- as we heard from Sherman Smith weeks ago — are not happy with Michael’s play on the field. Still don’t believe me?

People have accused me of “crusading” against Michael. Which, I mean ... if by “crusading” you mean, holding the opinion that he shouldn’t be starting ahead of someone else on the team, yes, I guess I am. I would just call it “an opinion” and not asking you to agree with it, but the only agenda here is an opinion of sports by a sports writer. When I held negative opinions of Andrew Luck and Cam Newton, I got less dissension and disagreement than I have for Michael. Which is extremely weird to me given how the team felt about Michael a year ago, and how many fans said “good riddance” to him as well, but I definitely admire the passion and fandom of 12s.

Of course, plenty of others also see where Michael is struggling to produce anything more than a replacement-level back, and agree. As far as what’s coming from the mouth of the head coach, it sounds like Carroll is “crusading” against Michael too.
