The Seattle Seahawks beat the Los Angeles Rams 24-3 on Thursday night, clinching their fourth division title since Pete Carroll took over in 2010. The win improves the Seahawks to 9-4-1, which is 3.5 games ahead of the Arizona Cardinals with only three games for the Cards left to go.
Seattle is the first team in the NFL this season to clinch a division title, and many will say that it’s because the NFC West is a bad division ... which is true. The San Francisco 49ers are an awful 1-12, the Rams fall to 4-10, and Arizona is 5-7-1. However, the Seahawks still get a home playoff game no matter how you slice it and there’s still a pretty good chance that they will also get a bye week.
The Detroit Lions are 9-4 and have to travel to play the New York Giants this week, then must go to Dallas to play the Cowboys, then finish at home against the Green Bay Packers. Meanwhile, Seattle hosts the Cardinals next Saturday, then goes to Santa Clara to play the Niners in the finale.
