After perhaps the worst showing of the Pete Carroll era-Seahawks in Tampa Bay, Carroll’s Seahawks return home to face off against an old foe; the Carolina Panthers. The now annual meeting between the Panthers and Seahawks has become essentially a seventh divisional game over the years. And just like in games against the LA Rams, this should be a 60-minute dogfight.
Carolina’s secondary and pass rush has let them down this season, but the Panthers are still a tough, physical team capable of hitting the deep shot at any time.
Luckily, the Seahawks have reinforcements on the way; Earl Thomas, Michael Bennett, DeShawn Shead and Justin Britt all figure to be back this week. On the other side, Carolina placed All-Pro center Ryan Kalil on injured reserve this week, ending his season. The loss of Kalil has been extremely noticeable in both the run and passing game in recent weeks, something that Bennett and the defensive line should be able to take full advantage of.
