Seahawks Draft Picks 2016: Seattle has nine picks in the 2016 NFL Draft

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL Draft order is now official. The league released a full list of this year's picks, and it has been confirmed that Seattle has nine total picks, including four in the top 100. That's a big deal, and represents some nice draft capital. Only the Seahawks, Patriots, Rams, and Broncos have four picks in the first three rounds.

Here's how Seattle came about acquiring those nine picks: Seattle made trades to acquire safety Kelcie McCray (using their 2016 5th rounder) and cornerback Mohammed Seisay (using their 2016 6th rounder). However, they did pick up an additional 7th round pick from Dallas for the Christine Michael trade. They were awarded three compensatory picks as well.

The comp picks were rewarded because of Seattle's losses in free agency: a 3rd rounder for Byron Maxwell, a 5th rounder for James Carpenter, and a 6th rounder for Malcolm Smith. Seattle would've gotten another comp pick for losing Jeron Johnson to Washington, but the signing of Ahtyba Rubin cancelled that out.
