Seahawks free agency tracker 2016: Tracking news and rumors in NFL free agency

Jim Steve-USA TODAY Sports

It's the big day. At 1:00pm PT, NFL free agency officially starts, and it's going to be a madhouse. Get ready for tons of quickly-breaking news and rumors. We'll be right here to track everything. I'm combining yesterday's notes with everything that happens today.

SEAHAWKS NEWS AND RUMORS:

-- The Seahawks re-signed cornerback Jeremy Lane, locking up yet another key member of the L.O.B..

-- The Seahawks also officially announced that they've tendered exclusive rights free agents CB Marcus Burley, DT A.J. Francis, TE Cooper Helfet, LB Eric Pinkins, CB Mohammed Seisay, DB DeShawn Shead, and FS Steven Terrell. They also tendered restricted free agent Patrick Lewis. This had already been reported, but the team confirmed it.

-- Brandon Mebane ended up signing with the Chargers. So long, Banger.

-- J.R. Sweezy signed in Tampa Bay with the Bucs. Seattle will likely look to Mark Glowinski to fill his role.

-- The Seahawks didn't give Christine Michael or Alvin Bailey RFA tenders, which was expected. They will try to sign them as UFAs at lower prices. Seattle did not give FB Derrick Coleman or WR Ricardo Lockette RFA tenders either. Lockette will not likely play football again, and Coleman is going through legal issues related to his earlier this year.

-- The Seahawks are making a push to sign Russell Okung.

-- Chris Clemons (yes that Chris Clemons) is set to visit the Seahawks, and if all goes well, he'll sign. Could be an interesting and risk-free move for the team. Because he was cut, it would not count against the Seahawks' comp pick formula.

-- The Seahawks are one of two teams (Cowboys too) that are interested in former Eagles DL Cedric Thornton. Thornton is 6'4, 309 pounds and is just 27 years old. He started 13 games for the Eagles last year.

-- Bruce Irvin is going to be a Raider.

-- Looks like DT A.J. Francis signed his exclusive rights free agent tender. So, Seattle's now locked up two interior linemen.

-- The Seahawks have released DT Jesse Williams. Williams had been recovering from kidney cancer but had been recently cleared to play. He'll look to catch on with another team.

-- Seattle tendered exclusive rights free agent cornerback Marcus Burley. Made no sense not to.

-- The Broncos are releasing offensive guard Louis Vasquez and tight end Owen Daniels. Add one more veteran guard to the free agent pile, and Daniels could be a vet option for Seattle if Jimmy Graham's injury recovery is delayed.

-- Broncos defensive lineman Malik Jackson, one of the top free agents on the market, is reported to be joining the Jaguars for upwards of $15M per year. Michael Bennett is going to be pissed.

-- Ravens offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele is signing with the Raiders. It's unclear whether he'll be playing guard or tackle, but this increases the likelihood that Donald Penn will hit the open market. That's a name to keep in mind for Seattle.

-- Pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul is expected to stick with the Giants on a one-year deal.

-- The Chargers re-signed tackle Joe Barksdale. 4-years, $22.2M with $10.5M guaranteed.

-- Safety Jeron Johnson was released by Washington on Monday. Also released were QB Robert Griffin, S Dashon Goldson, and DL Jason Hatcher.

-- The Eagles traded Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso to the Dolphins for draft picks. They also traded DeMarco Murray to the Titans. They're just offloading Chip Kelly's roster moves.
