NFL Draft Results: Seahawks select Zac Brooks with 7th round pick, 247 overall

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks have selected Clemson running back Zac Brooks with the second of their two 7th round picks, 247th overall in the NFL Draft.

Brooks is the third running back that the Seahawks took in this draft, so I think it's safe to say that they plan to continue stressing their run game.

Pro Day Results

40-yard dash: 4.45 seconds
Vertical: 36 inches
Broad jump: 10 feet, 9 inches
Short shuttle: 4.38 seconds
3-cone: 7.09 seconds
Bench: 18 reps of 225 pounds

Here's what scouts at NFLDraftScout.com had to say.

PLAYER OVERVIEW

A four-star athlete recruit out of high school, Brooks committed to Clemson and was a back-up his first two seasons for the Tigers, combining for 365 yards and two touchdowns in reserve duty.

He was expected to be the team's starting running back as a junior in 2014, but a foot injury (Aug. 2014) in camp required surgery and forced him to redshirt. Brooks returned in 2015 and served as the back-up to Wayne Gallman, finishing with 234 yards rushing, 113 yards receiving and five total scores.

STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES

He has the plant-and-go quickness to cut away from trouble, showing a secondary burst to escape the first wave of the defense, but he tends to be late reading blocks and too easily slowed by arm tackles. With only 115 carries on his resume, Brooks still has tread left on his tires and shows dynamic athleticism in space, but he will struggle to separate himself in the NFL with his mediocre run instincts and vision - also has strong interests outside of football (interior design).

The Seahawks made 10 selections total in the 2016 NFL Draft.
