The Film Room: Matt Jones is too risky to be drafted in your fantasy league

In the next month, you have a big decision to make: Who to select in your upcoming fantasy football draft. In my latest video breakdown, I decided to take a look at Washington Redskins running back Matt Jones, who is projected to be the starter going into the season. According to FantasyPros.com, Jones is currently being selected around the 60th pick.

Here's what you'll see when watching the video above, which includes detailed play-by-play breakdown of where Jones succeeded and failed on the field as a rookie.

The Redskins run a mixture of outside zone and inside gap concepts under Bill Callahan, their offensive line coach. Callahan, who coached for the Dallas Cowboys from 2012-2014, helped build their offensive line by drafting Zack Martin and Travis Frederick in consecutive drafts. When he arrived in Washington last off-season, the Redskins trusted his evaluation of Iowa product Brandon Scherff and drafted him 5th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft.

According to FootballOutsiders.com, the Redskins were ranked 21st in run blocking this past season. With the signing of Vernon Davis, free agent from the Denver Broncos, the Redskins look to have an improved tight end group, but they still have a massive liability with their center.

The 60th pick in the draft is good for the end of the 5th round in a 12-man league. In my opinion, there is way too much risk and not enough upside to justify a pick that early.
