Well, a punter got paid, and uhhh there was an Olympic roster announcement! I promise there is NFL news here.

The Week in Review is back again after a ten-day break, because man the NFL has been dead quiet recently. With training camp just around the corner, it's the calm before the storm. It would be nice if that storm would hurry up and arrive though, because I'm about to tell you about Fiji's rugby sevens team for the Olympics.

Home Cookin'

A lot has happened at Field Gulls since I last joined you all. Most of it has to do with face-melting content, but also, Kenny debuted Field Gulls' newest podcast: Seaside Chats with Kenneth Arthur. It's still in your Real in the Field Gulls feed, and this week he's joined by Rob Staton. If you are missing the duo's conversations on 3000 NFL Mock Draft, listen to this! Now.

Connor Worley discusses some possible options at backup quarterback for the Seahawks in light of Trevone Boykin and Tarvaris Jackson's recent legal troubles.

Kenny has been on bubble-watch, detailing the battles at offensive linerunning back and wide receiver.

Another banger from Lars Russell, this time a great read on the SAM linebacker position moving forward in the Seahawks defense.

Good news and bad news

Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins has started running again following offseason foot surgery, according to a post on the receivers Instagram account. The belief remains however, that Watkins is doubtful to make the practice field for training camp.

Former rookie free agent and current Buccaneers offensive lineman Dominique Robertson was shot twice in the leg in late June, suffering injuries to his leg and back. The rookie was released from hospital a day later and there's been no update on his status for training camp.

Linebackers come and go but Darryl Tapp is forever

One-time Seattle Seahawk Darryl Tapp signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints last Tuesday, as the Saints try to makeup for the loss of Hau'oli Kikaha in their pass rush. Tapp has played his last two seasons in Detroit, with his best season numbers-wise coming in 2007 when he posted seven sacks for the Seahawks.

Stephen Tulloch joined Darryl Tapp as a former Lion last week, as the team finally released the veteran linebacker. The release has been expected since the regular season ended and Tulloch had been excused from the team's workouts while his release was made official. Still capable of being a two-down linebacker for a desperate team, Tulloch could draw some interest quickly, although...

The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly in talks with Justin Durant over a reunion with the veteran linebacker. Durant spend 2013 and 2014 with the Cowboys before playing last year for Dan Quinn and the Atlanta Falcons.

Both of these people are probably fans of rugby

The New York Giants and Australian punter Brad Wing agreed to a contract extension on Monday, worth up to $6.45 million over three years. Wing is coming off a season where he finished bottom-ten in net yardage.

Former San Francisco 49ers running back Jarryd Hayne has seen his Olympic dream fall short. The rugby sevens star retired from the NFL after one-season, as the former Australian rules football legend cited his desire to play in the Olympics with Fiji's rugby sevens team. Hayne posted on his Facebook page this weekend that he did not make the roster.

Slow couple of weeks indeed. On a personal note, I'm going away for a week and so there will be no Week in Review again this coming weekend. Thanks for reading and Gooooooo Hawks.
