Pro scouts are beginning to work overtime with training camps in full effect. All 32 front offices are constantly reviewing players that have recently been let go to see if they would be suitable to bring into their camp. Movement was the main theme this week, with 29 teams making adjustments to their camp rosters. The Cardinals and 49ers handed out big extensions to Tyrann Mathieu (5-year, $62.5M) and Navorro Bowman (four-year, $44M) this week. The Cardinals followed up the re-signing of Mathieu with one-year extensions to Carson Palmer ($24.35M) and Larry Fitzgerald ($11M). The Seahawks made several moves this past week releasing 7 players, including 5 that reverted to the IR, and signing 8 more players. The biggest signing Seattle made was for former All-Pro guard Jahri Evans. The majority of the league went through the week with the typical turning of rosters you would expect this time of the year.

My Thoughts:
- The signing of guard Jahri Evans was a great move by the Seahawks. Evans may not be the caliber of player he used to be, but his résumé and veteran experience is what Seattle’s offensive line could use. This also opens up the possibility of Ifedi swinging out to right tackle and taking over J’Marcus Webb’s spot, then Evans filling out the right guard position. However, this could also be a situation similar to when the Seahawks brought in Eric Winston in camp in 2014, where Winston was just used as an anchor for competition. Either way, I’m enthralled by this signing.
- It was nice to see fellow NFC West teams reward their stars. As much annoyance as the Cardinals have caused Seattle recently, Mathieu, Palmer, and Fitzgerald all deserved the money given to them and I’m happy to see this rivalry extended into the next few years. The 49ers made a good move by locking up their best player for the rest of his prime. Especially after his devastating injury in the 2014 NFC Championship Game, Bowman’s ability to bounce back and perform at a high level was great to see.
