Don’t say that NFC West rivals won’t stick together.
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane has apparently joined San Francisco 49ers Colin Kaepernick in protest by sitting during the national anthem on Thursday night as the Seahawks play the Oakland Raiders in their preseason finale.

The news of Kaepernick opting to sit during the anthem to make a statement regarding racial tensions in the United States has dominated headlines over the last week, and he also continued to protest on Thursday. There had been no warning, as far as I know, that Lane was going to sit during the anthem on Thursday, though Richard Sherman said earlier in the week that he had overheard teammates talk about doing it in the past.
As of this writing, no other Seattle players have been named as people to sit during the anthem in Oakland on Thursday night. That doesn’t mean that they won’t be asked an obscene amount of questions about it after the game, or that fans will be able to avoid all of the conversations on the matter in the coming days.
