Seahawks-Falcons: DeShawn Shead goes down with non-contact injury

Seattle Seahawks cornerback DeShawn Shead left Saturday’s divisional playoff game with what appears to be a knee injury. Shead was in coverage when it looked like his knee buckled as he tried to change direction. The pass was incomplete and Shead was on the ground holding his knee. Trainers came out and Shead was taken off the field. He was walking around on the sidelines but very gingerly.

DeAndre Elliott will take over as the Seahawks try to make a comeback, trailing 19-10 at the time of the injury. Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has had pretty easy work of the Seattle secondary even with Shead, so it doesn’t bode well for the pass defense, already without All-Pro safety Earl Thomas. It’s going to be quite the workload for Richard Sherman, Jeremy Lane, Kam Chancellor, Steven Terrell, and Elliott when they were already struggling.

Shead missed one game earlier in the season.
