The Seattle Seahawks are 10-5-1 and headed to the playoffs to face a slumping Detroit Lions team, but many fans are despondent over the state of the team anyway.
The Seahawks are the cheapest team in the NFL when it comes to the offensive line, and it shows. They signed Bradley Sowell, J’Marcus Webb, and Jahri Evans instead of a high priced free agent. They finished 25th in the NFL in rushing. Thomas Rawls averaged 3.2 yards per carry. They handed the ball off to 11 different running backs, and 18 players in total had at least one rush attempt. People were mad when they cut Troymaine Pope. People were mad when they cut Christine Michael to make room for Troymaine Pope. They threw it to Jermaine Kearse too much and Jimmy Graham too little.
The defense proved to be a sham without Earl Thomas. They got burned by the likes of Colin Kaepernick and at times, even Jared Goff. Kris Richard doesn’t seem to be drawing the same admiration that Dan Quinn, or even Gus Bradley, once did. Tom Cable is the devil. Darrell Bevell is also the devil. There are many devils and their names are “Seahawks Coaches.”
They went 0-250-1 on the road in the NFC or something. They didn’t even come close to winning the DVOA title. They totally bungled the scoring defense title when Earl went down, meaning that the defense really is that vulnerable. The special teams is even worse. Everything is blocked, All Day meet Every Day.
I hear negativity and pessimism on Twitter about the Seahawks literally every day that isn’t a day when they win the Super Bowl. Let’s see how much of it we can get out here on the Field Gulls comment section before they, you know, play in the playoffs again.
What would you like to see changed in 2017?
