Jeremy Lane fails physical, Seahawks send draft pick to Texans to complete trade

Trade terms for Duane Brown change substantially

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Seattle Seahawks (yes, still) cornerback Jeremy Lane failed his physical for the Houston Texans on Tuesday, meaning that the Seahawks were forced to include a higher draft pick instead of Lane to complete the deal for Duane Brown.

Here are the new details on the trade:

We don’t know yet how this will effect the cap, as Lane was set to alleviate some of that pressure by being traded to Houston. It may be that Russell Wilson has renegotiated his deal just enough to make it work.

Lane recently missed two games with a groin injury, though the team pulled him after only six snaps in Sunday’s 41-38 win over the Texans. Apparently he still was not healthy enough to make the transition to Houston’s defense.

On the bright side, Seattle still gets their left tackle. On the downside, they now have no day two picks on the schedule for 2018. Given their love of day two picks though, you’d think that will be changing leading up to and on the days of the draft. Either by trading down, trading up, and/or compensation picks.

As of right now, both Lane and Brown appear to be Seahawks.
