It’s a short week for the Seattle Seahawks (6-4), who are coming off a thrilling but disappointing 34-31 home loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Seattle travels to Santa Clara to play the San Francisco 49ers (1-9), who are looking for their first win over the Seahawks since 2013. The 49ers just had their bye week, but preceding that was their first win under Kyle Shanahan, as they beat up on the New York Giants 31-21.
This is a must-win for Seattle, as missing the playoffs is now looking like a real possibility. They edged out the 49ers by a score of 12-9 in week 2, and that was with the since-dumped Brian Hoyer starting at QB for San Francisco. This time around, the Legion of Boom is banged up, Chris Carson is out, Duane Brown is a Seahawk, C.J. Beathard is the 49ers’ starter, and Pierre Garcon is out for the season. Lots of changes on both sides, but the stakes are high for just one team, and it’s the Seahawks.
