Cornerback Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks has long been outspoken about his dislike for Thursday Night Football, and in the game against Arizona Cardinals on Thursday shows why. Playing with just three full days between gamedays, the Seahawks were beset with a rash of injuries, the most serious of which Sherman himself appears to have suffered as he is reported to have torn his Achilles. Whether the short amount of rest between the Washington game and the Thursday night game played a role in Sherman rupturing the Achilles he originally injured against the Los Angeles Rams in week 5 we may never know, but we do know that his 2017 season is over.
Following the injury, the reactions on Twitter were largely in line with what one would expect, with many tweets critical of the Thursday night games.
In any case, here are a sampling of what we saw. This first tweet shows Sherman knows before he is even off the field what happened and how serious it is. He has zero interest in whatever it is the doctor is speaking to him about.

Many were impressed with Sherman staying on the sideline after the injury and the toughness that showed.
Richard Sherman just walking around with a torn Achilles is pretty nuts. Speaks to the Seattle culture. Tough crazy dudes

When Richard Sherman misses next Monday's game against the Falcons, it will be the first time in seven NFL seasons he has not played. Warrior.

Some who happen to be Seattle fans had a more emotional response.
please stop showing richard sherman hugging everyone it's making me sad

Other members of the media simply spoke their mind.
If Richard Sherman's hurt, I will be both very sad and also convinced that anybody who appears in an NFL commercial this year is cursed

watch out Luke McCown
Gonna reserve my comments on the position TNF puts players in. Richard Sherman may not.

And then one media member in particular decided to show his ignorance . . .
Hoping Richard Sherman didn't tear his Achilles, as he appears to be saying. Unusual for him to be walking under own power if he did. But the last thing the NFL needs is to lose ANOTHER star.

Only to have a professional put forth the truth minutes later.
No medical urgency for treating an Achilles rupture.

if it happens to you, do not need emergency room immediately.
What is torn is torn.
Not wrong for @Seahawks med staff to allow @RSherman_25 to stay on sideline.
It is a sad day for Seattle fans, as Sherman has been a member of this team since before they developed into who they are today, and his presence on the field will be missed.
Since Byron Maxwell left after the 2014 season the Seahawks have been searching for a RCB to put across from Sherman. Now the team is in need of a LCB to replace Sherman.
