Pete Carroll sounds pessimistic about Bobby Wagner, KJ Wright starting vs Rams

NFL: Atlanta Falcons at Seattle Seahawks Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks were stout on defense in the 31 snaps with Bobby Wagner on Sunday, allowing just three points to the Jacksonville Jaguars up to that point. As soon as Wagner left the game with an aggravated hamstring injury, the flood gates done opened and the Seahawks lost 30-24. Per Pete Carroll on Monday, the chances of Wagner returning in a week to face off the LA Rams for first place in the division don’t sound too good.

Carroll notes to 710 ESPN Seattle that backup Michael Wilhoite will probably have to start against the Rams. If it’s not for Wagner, then it could be for K.J. Wright, who left the game with a concussion, which means that his status to return is pretty much indefinite at this point. If both linebackers are out, then Terence Garvin could start as well.

A third backup linebacker, D.J. Alexander, also had to come into action on Sunday, getting 19 snaps on defense. Wilhoite had 47 snaps, while Garvin had 33.
