Sam’s Film Room: Marquise Goodwin suddenly looks like a 1,000-yard receiver

Edit: If the video above does not play, please click “Watch on YouTube” or follow this link.

One of the big questions I had during this week was how well Marquise Goodwin was playing with Jimmy Garoppolo. Over the last three weeks, Goodwin has averaged 11 targets per game and it looks like their chemistry together is building. This video breaks down what Goodwin does well, what he does not do well, and how much Garoppolo trusts him on the field. In my opinion, if Goodwin can stay healthy, he’s a great fit in Kyle Shanahan’s offense and should continue to be utilized by the San Francisco 49ers. Goodwin has caught 24 passes for 319 yards in three games with Garoppolo, and on the season is suddenly just 103 yards shy of reaching 1,000. He signed a two-year, $6 million in the offseason, so San Francisco will be bringing him back for cheap to face the NFC West next year.
